Archibald has been developing for the past 10 years. 😃 - manvanfan
Archibald is 28. - VanHockeyGuy
well aware of the age difference, just was pointing out how quickly an AHL lifer surpassed him |

Now i'm concerned. - VanHockeyGuy
i was putting him in the my lineup last year, when few others were.
he's progressed nicely this year under Green and worked his way up the lineup (injuries might have played a small role).

For the right deal I would trade him but I wouldn't mind to see more - VANTEL
This is essentially my take as well.
I dont see his career peak being very high and if a reasonable deal comes along that would bring a moderate return on a former 6OA pick, then I would be keen on taking it. I dont hate him, nor would I give him away, but I would have his name out there as available |

Sure. Anyone is for sale if the price is right.
I wouldn't move him for a 2nd at this point tho.

I could utube mistakes on every player in this league just as much as utube great plays. When drafted he was a project everyone knew that and he has a rare skillset that needs to mature along with his mental side, he still thinks like a kid but I see more good signs then bad lately. - Bettmanhatesus
Yes that was a cherry pick moment, but just showing that with him when its bad, its real bad.
But I do concede he has been better of late, just have my doubts he'll be able to be consistently decent |

Maybe there's a lesson to be learned there? JV's improved from the previous year. He needs to go to camp in the fall and compete again. If the twins pack it in the landscape changes for everyone as far as ice time goes.

i don't see the Kassian comparisons myself.
JV is developing just fine. - dbot
Kassian had the size, skills to be a dominant power forward but lacked the consistency and left you wanting more from him. Jake gives me the same feelings. I know playing styles are a little different, but they similarly have (had in the case of Kassian) the potential to be unique players |

Just look at Carolinas Derek Ryan. He was a usports player over to Norway and at 28 came back to AHL. Now back to back 29 point seasons. Development is a funny thing. |

JV has improved. Does anyone expect him to be an elite NHL player. Not likely. Is he going to make a few mistakes probably. If he is going to make a few mistakes he needs to be on the good side of the scoresheet more often.
A fault in TG plan for everyone is being good away from the puck and "hard" to play against. Might be time to stop asking the skilled players to play a "hard" game. |

I think he earned his spot on the team out of camp this year, but I do think they should have considered sending him down to the AHL when he was getting scratched and his minutes were dropping, even if it was a temporary thing. He obviously needs pressure to keep pushing him, and maybe that would have helped? |

Focusing on one thing will just lead to holes further down the road. If Dipetrio doesnt workout and Van doesnt draft one soon. Could be 6-8 years between goalies. Van needs quality D not quantity. - manvanfan
Agree. We have lots of scraps with no quality. I would like them to add a goalie or 2 in later rounds(6 or 7) |

Definitely, its not linear. I just have a low bar with what Virtanen will end up as, and those type of players are easily available (ie Archibald) |

He doesnt put in time in the summer he just parties.
To me he is a sunk cost. Hopefully he gets his poop together and becomes a solid 3rd liner as that is about as good as its going to get at this point. |

Or sign Propect UFAs which cant do either due to the Vanek trade essentially taking up 3 contract spots |

Unacceptable for such a weak team. JB needs to move some players for picks.

What gets me is that GMs were wheeling and dealing. The experts talk about trades are hard to come by, especially 1st rounders. When the market opened up like it did this TDL then a GM has to react accordingly. These doors don't open often so when it does you got to be ready to step through. |

How?
We don't have a lot to offer and there is not a lot on the farm. |
