I usually form my own opinion. Several sites have turnover machine Hughes as 2nd best. That guy is a dime a dozen in the 4th round. |

Bouchard possibly has the greatest shot ever the way he clear beats goalies without any screens so often.
Hughes is 6 days older then Bouchard.
I have Hughes at 9 below Bouchard at 7.
Hughes is almost a ppg on a much better league.

Here is most of the up to date draft rankings. Hughes is falling in a lot of mock drafts. |

Until i see the NCAA put more players into nhl than the CHL, i cant agree with this. I do agree that it is getting much better recently.
Also, 4 of our top 8 defensemen are products of that league and it goes without saying we have poop defense. |

Looks like some good D around when we'll be picking second, maybe someone will drop kind of how Benning was surprised Lind was still there. |

Vantel is now hoping for 8OA - manvanfan
Picking 6th to take Bouchard and 10th to take Bode Wilde would certainly accelerate the Canucks D prospects situation.
Maybe give ol' penny pincher in Ottawa a call and see if he'd be willing to do Granlund/Baertschi and Canucks 3rd for Marion Gaborik and their first? Or Baertschi for Ryan and their first?
Instead of signing some random UFA like Vanek, play whichever one you pick up for one year and then buy him out. ($11MM to buyout Ryan at end of next season and $7.2MM for Gaborik.) An investment like this would really be worth it. |

NCAA does put more players into the NHL then the QMJHL does last I heard. They aren't far behind the WHL and OHL anymore either.
We didn't exactly get the good D from there. |

Bouchard can put the puck in the net from anywhere, he's the full package. - Bettmanhatesus
If he ends up being the D equivalent to Horvat, that could set things up nicely for future playoff runs. |

Daniel Brickley of Minnesota State has apparently been contacted by 30 teams, while Jimmy Schuldt from St. Cloud State has spoken to 22. Both players went undrafted and can sign with a team as soon as their collegiate season ends, though both are juniors and could potentially return to college for another year. Both are left-handed defensemen who could step into an NHL lineup with little development, and they both will turn 23 before the end of the regular season.

Just remembered that Ottawa traded their 2018 first in the Duchene deal. But if they end up with 10th spot or better they could defer the Duchene pick until next year and hope they're not drafting in a lottery spot.
Maybe someone else who sucks almost as bad as the Canucks has an ugly contract they'd like to part with for one of our many tweeners? |

Don't see a scenario where we can beat the Wild at this point. Could be ugly tonight. - LordHumungous
Don't be so sure, Wild have been pretty flakey this season against non-contending teams, including 2 previous losses to your squad.
It wouldn't surprise me if they make it interesting. |

If taking the BR contract I think you'd need to get more than that...it's worst than LE.

Either one or both would be nice. Someone on here has been hoping for Brickley since last season.

If I was Aquilini, I'd gladly trade Baertschi and $11MM for what's likely a top pairing D-man you'd control for at least 7 years. |

Nothing wrong with these kids getting an education.
Would like to see the Canadian college hockey level get better.
I used to watch some of those games, not very good back then. Hopefully it improves with the junior players being able to get scholarships and being able to play on those teams.
I believe Carl Neill is doing just that. Never know if they could end up being "late-bloomers" coming oit of that system as well. It would only increase the quality of the nhl. |

At the start of the season the NCAA plays Canadian schools. The games are usually around 8-0 7-1 for the NCAA schools.
As seen this year the Alberta golden bears gave the world juniors a pretty game couple of games.
Sadly the best Canadian kids aren't going to Canadian Uni to play hockey they are all going south. |
