I also wanted to bring something else up. I've seen a lot of people talking about Babtiste and Bailey and what to do with them next year. As well as, what our line-up will/could look like. I think a bunch of people are forgetting that they will lose their waivers exemption next year leaving the Sabres with 3 choices.
1. Play them in Buffalo
2. Trade Them
3. Sit them in Buffalo
There is no way they don't get picked up if we try to send them to Rochester. They may not be good enough in some's opinion to play in Buffalo but they definitely are not bad enough to pass through waivers, someone will grab them and chances are we will be talking about how stupid it was for Buffalo to let them go for nothing. I personally think they should be playing up here next year. Babtiste has been showing he can hold his own and Bailey is a much better option then some of the guys we got up here now. I also believe C.J. Smith falls into the same category, might as well see what he has got now. - Sabrehagan
Good points. I think there is a decent chance that they would clear waivers, if they don't make the team out of camp. It's a chance they probably won't take, but with the entire league making their final roster moves, that's the day they could clear.
Personally, I don't think you can play 3 of Bailey, Baptiste, Smith, and Fasching in Buffalo next year. Someone will be moved this summer.

he makes high risk plays so he's susceptible to turnovers and thats all anyone focuses on but in general he's pretty good defensively. - Sabresfan-365
Interesting
Seems to be concern over reoccurring shoulder injuries though
2-3yrs, 4-5mil per
Or something along those lines seems close
I’m wondering where he fits in though?
He’s a LH defenseman
DeHaan-Risto
Scandella-Nelson
Guhle-McCabe/Antipin
Bogosian
I don’t love it...
but it’s another step in the right direction potentially

Find a taker for Bogo and Moulson(hopefully retires).
Go after Carlson and or DeHaan.

If we could add BOTH...
Yeah, sign me up
That would be a Pittsburgh-like defense
I’d say deHaan gets done at 3yrs, 4m per
Carlson we’d have to go 7yrs, at least 6m per
Although i still don’t know if we could get Carlson to actually come here
DeHaan seems possible though |

Gotta move Bogo and Mouson's deal.
Also depends on Okposo.
Not good ending two seasons in a row with bean issues.
Really hope everything works out for him. Seems like a pretty stand up guy. |

It is sad, he was playing decent after a long time to ramp up...now set back agai;.
One has to wonder what is going through his mind about retirement with sustaining two of them in about a years time...a 3 rd could be devastating.

Even with Okposo & Bogosian,
after this year...
we are gonna have over 20mil in Cap Space if we don’t make any significant additions |

The defense is going to cost a pretty penny to revamp.
If the Okposo thing goes south, they can always LTIR him al la Savard. Hopefully it doesn't come to that as I do see him as a very nice complementary player.
Bogo just needs to go IMO. Send him with a 2019 3rd to whoever for a 5th.
I have a gut feeling that Moulson may retire. It doesn't save them a ton by buying him out. $666,667 in real cash this year and next (out of his $2mil salary) but his cap hit will be $3,66,667 and $666,667 the following year (3,975,000 cap hit if he's buried next year). I guess a team trying to hit the cap floor might be an option too? $2 mil salary but $5 mil cap hit. |

Yeah,
all that makes sense
Tough to guess which way it’ll go though with each individual situation
At the very least,
We do have a good amount of $$$ coming off the Cap after this next season
So we do have room to make whatever moves Botts feels are necessary |

Great post 🤙🏻
I didn’t know after so long you become waiver exempt, I like that rule.
Bailey and Baptiste are ready to be full timers. I think they will thrive here.
Fasching, Smith, O’regan are the guys you risk looooooosing going up and down.

I think moulson to arizona happens. 5 million cap hit, only 3 million actual cash. Last year of contract. They love those deals. |

To be honest 90 percent of us wouldn't be able to tell you who our AGM was without looking it up and of those 90 percent of us at least 30% of us would still get it wrong after looking it up |

The #Vikings have stayed in touch on Sam Bradford, but he may have options, provided he can pass a physical. One team to watch: the #Bills. Good scheme fit and they have some interest, sources say. Case Keenum could be an option in Buffalo, too.

At least it wasn't Randy Sexton. Then we would be back to having no GM in Rochester. Having a GM there seems to be working out for us. Losing him would suck. |

So far the names are
Mike Futa - L.A. Kings
Steve Greeley - Buffalo Sabres
Tom Fitzgerald - New Jersey Devils
Julien BriseBois - Tampa Bay Lightning
Paul Fenton - Nashville Predators
Laurence Gillman - Unemployed.
It's expected they'll try to talk to Kyle Dubas of the Leafs, but will probably be told no, if they haven't already. |

What do you guys think about Joel Quenneville?
If he leaves Chicago he could be a real good get for Buffalo. I know changing coaches Again, especially so quickly probably wouldn't be good but I think he is the kind of coach that would actually get our players to stop slacking off. Coaches of his caliber don't become available too often and wherever he goes I think that team will truly benefit from having him as their coach. Most likely though we will be sticking with PH. Hopefully he can get more out of our players next year then he did this year.
What do you guys think should we dump PH for Joel Quenneville if he wants to come to Buffalo? |
