Thanks Carol,
Tough to write anything positive about this group nowadays.
What's your prediction for our lotto draft seeding? |

I think they'll fall further. Only four points out of 31st now and Arizona's playing some good hockey.
Buffalo's recent record is also pretty good. Maybe finish 30th, ahead of Ottawa?

Although very tough to watch this is a natural progression for a team with some younger players to go through constructed as they are. I agree with a few of the posters on here that I would rather watch the young players make mistakes or growing pains than watch Daniel and Henrik next year I don't care how bad. The Sedins deserve all the adulation they get but it is time to move ahead with the youth.
Losses will come in bunches but they will be better for it. I don't believe that we can marinate the kids in Utica or at least not all of them. I believe the players that earn jobs in camp should stay with a good stable of fast young creative players in Utica learning to be pros. Green has excelled at every level but not immediately, I am willing to see what he can do with the kids. He also doesn't care at all what the media or fans think, he has his plan and he will do it. Maybe blind optimism on my part but I want to see him succeed. |

Yeah, I don't even dare to dream of Dahlin.
Maybe there's another Elias Pettersson to be had with another fifth pick??

Thanks Carol,
I might be a blog behind but I think Pronman's take was probably pretty good.
I won't post the entire piece but essentially he is saying while Pettersson is clearly an elite player, the players he is being compared all left the SHL a year or two earlier and accomplished what they did at a younger age. All are considered under 20 but this quote puts it in more context.
William Nylander left at 18, Alexander Nylander at 17, Elias Lindholm at 18, Magnus Paajarvi at 18, Filip Forsberg at 18, Gabriel Landeskog at 17 and Mika Zibanejad at 18. The last truly elite Swedish forward to play in Sweden at 19 like Pettersson was Nicklas Backstrom.
Everyone should be excited about EP but at the same time expectations should be tempered. I was one of the few in here suggesting Boeser play in the AHL to start the season and was wrong, but I'll make the same suggestion for EP at this point. |

“If the Sedins retire where will those points come from?”
This is the narrative I dislike the most. With PP time, zone starts etc there are plenty of guys who could replace those points, and then other guys, rookies whatever fill in below. |

An AHL goalie calling out a half AHL lineup...anyone else find this comical or absurd?

No, me neither. Where do you start with this many holes? The prospect pool is screaming for depth at D. We should be taking BPA. |

I disagree, Sedins are ranked 3/4 in 5v5 scoring and 8/10 ice time per game.
PP points have helped them look respectable this year but that is no different than you any other point producer in the league. They definitely are getting favourable zone starts but lots of players have on this team previously and not put up the points.
Like it or not they are still tip players for this team. |

That’s your opinion, but I believe that if you gave other players the same opportunity as Henrik and Daniel they would have similar results. Boeser is a good example of best case scenario. My point is that even a “decent” case scenario sees someone doing what the twins have done, and someone else doing what the player who replaced the Sedins, and so on and so on. |

Hopefully they (frank) us up.
Brown takes out Edler for a bit with a knee or shoulder sprain. Then the D pairings will be all (frank)ed up until Tanev is back. |

That's fine. But you're forgetting to include the absurd amount of goals they've been on the ice for at 5v5 despite getting those zone starts.
I agree that they're still valuable on the PP. Hell, they'd look great on a lot of playoff teams' 2nd PP units who suck.
the issue is that they're a mess defensively at 5v5 these days. |

Not a fan of tanking.
That was the closest I have ever seen to the Canucks throw a game.
How many passes back to the point were muffed?

lol the players never tank unless it's the ones who know they're safe(star players or NTC). Most of these guys are playing for jobs next year.
They just suck. |

To me that’s the same message as what Marky said. Basically not good enough, guys have to think about what they want because this team will certainly be different next year. |
