Its like they didn't pre-scout him on what made him succesfful and just looked at a few traits and filled in the blanks with common stereotypes. its like they just saw "he plays PP, and he's right handed. Must make him a trigger man."

Gagner was in the middle of the ice and would occasionally shoot, but usually just found seems to give other players the puck in better shooting areas. Not even going back to Edmonton was he used in the Ovi spot, because he has a muffin for a shot. When he did shoot it was more because they had the traffic and numbers down low to clean up the ensuing scramble. He's not a shoot-to-score player.

Same ish with Eriksson. Loui did what Kesler did at his peak: Cleaned up garbage, had like 10 goals go in off his nutsack and occasionally bumpered out high for a one timer. Except as a lefty the Canucks PP set up has never been conducive to any LH shot getting one timers in high danger areas, same reason Edler can be so frustrating and Garrison was a bust.

its going to be curious to see what the PP does and who it runs though without the Sedins next year, because part of what made Boeser so good is being the cross ice one timer for a guy who is still an elite passer. Goldobin is honest to goodness probably the next closest in that skill set. :/

Pretty solid points. I would almost put JV in a sideboard shooting position. He’s smart like truck, but can shoot and one-time. Gaudette coming in is the only bright spot for these last 12 games. Well that and top5 pick

Just glancing over signings in the month of July guys like Kuemper, Cammelleri, Desharnis, Oduya and another dman I'm forgetting signed 1 year deals for a million or less. Any of the guys we signed any better than the above? Maybe could have got something at the TDL who knows. The best signing IMO was Weioroch at the minimum and we can't call him up risking losing him on waivers sending him back down.
