yes, playoffs
- CanuckDon

With or Without the twins.... I do not see playoffs next year. I hope we are not spitting in the wind in February through.

Hey ---- anyone taking advantage of the cheap tickets??? I have gone to two games.

I am just using Stub Hub. Does anyone know of a better local and safe place?

At a good price, we might see Vanek back here. He will not resign in Columbus. He is the poster-child for a non-Torts player.
- Beatle_john

I can’t see Vanek wanting to go through this again. I don’t think he likes getting traded, and unless he lights it up you won’t even be able to get Jordan Subban for him.

By all accounts he was very happy here and clearly he and Boessy really clicked. Could be good for his career to put up one more 20 goal year and get traded at another deadline. Good for Boeser too.

I just assumed. However you can get a sale on Edm, LA and Clb jerseys.

I think it's time for the team to form a new identity. That's not going to be possible as long as the twins are on this team. I also think there needs to be a conversation with Eriksson on how he will/won't fit in over the next two years before he can be moved. Move Tanev at the draft, trade Edler at next years TDL. Sign a couple of reasonable stop-gaps. Start the rebuild.

I'll just bullet point this for you
-Rebuild started
-half way through
-Sedin's retire
-A lotto win would surely help
-draft and develop continues
-JB and TL wins Van it's first cup

p.s. I think you want to go Northeastern not Northwestern

I'm a dink I know.

Time for a holiday from this place. Talk to you humans again when something big happens or the lotto draft.

Thanks Carol,

I might be a blog behind but I think Pronman's take was probably pretty good.

I won't post the entire piece but essentially he is saying while Pettersson is clearly an elite player, the players he is being compared all left the SHL a year or two earlier and accomplished what they did at a younger age. All are considered under 20 but this quote puts it in more context.

Everyone should be excited about EP but at the same time expectations should be tempered. I was one of the few in here suggesting Boeser play in the AHL to start the season and was wrong, but I'll make the same suggestion for EP at this point.

- belcherbd

Niklas Backstrom is a better player than every other guy on that list, but it is a good point. The interesting thing to me: all of those guys except Lindholm played AHL.

Is this titled "here is how we insure finishing last next year and the kids learn nothing" by VHG?

You don't think Boeser and Horvat can generate more offense than the Sedin's with their ridiculous zone starts? I want the team to keeps some vets around to shelter the prospects but not vets that need to be sheltered themselves. Hopefully they do the right thing and retire.

My issue with them coming back is management. Management will feel that they owe the twins an opportunity to compete, and we’ll see more Gagne, more Vanek, more Sutter etc.

As far as who can replace those points? If you stuck with it Baertschi could be a 50 point player, and make us just as angry about his play. Gagne is another guy who makes terrible decisions in his own end, but could thrive on PP1. Would the team be better? No, probably not. But is being better the most important goal for next season?

If Bergevin is stupid enough to have interest in Eriksson, the conversation with LE needs to be had

Markstrom calling out the team again...

An AHL goalie calling out a half AHL lineup...anyone else find this comical or absurd?

I wasn't aware what his position on EP was before but I still think his point about EP is true.

As incredible as the kid's season has been, people are putting too much stock into the names he is above on the list.

- belcherbd

Every expert uses current success to determine future success. The fact that EP dominated the SHL while other prospects aren't even dominating lower leagues(at a comparable rate) shows he is currently the best Prospect not in the NHL, and has the highest chance to be an Elite NHL player. The fact that Pronman continues to try and discount what he has done just shows how biased and stupid he is.

EP had a way better season than guys like Lindholm.

Side not about Lindholm, he was drafted as a C but played at W in the SHL and has pretty much never become the full time C the Canes were hoping for.

Now if EP ends up becoming a star then no one will care, but hopefully he does stick at C in the NHL

Lindholm is looking good this year IMO, but yeah it has been a tough haul for him since coming in as a 18 year old on a bad team. It's almost as if being rushed into the NHL did not help his development...

Okay so if Boeser and Horvat replace the Sedins 100 points who replaces Horvat and Boeser's 120 points?

I'm torn on whether I want to see the Sedins back but that wasn't the conversation, it was center on the argument "who is going to replace their points".

Sure. Best case scenario.

If he does play wing tho, i wonder if Brock can move over to Left wing (seems to be his sweet spot with that shot of his).

Brock-Bo-Pettersson could be an actual, really-real, legit 1st line at some point, if everyone continues to develop...maybe.
