#Canucks prospect Kristoffer Gunnarsson finished the SHL season with 0 points in 46 games - he was the only player to appear in more than 21 games to not register a point.
11 goaltenders had more points than Gunnarsson - including Justin Pogge, who had 4 assists. #Canucks

The Canucks knew about Guddy’s shoulder, and willingly signed that extension. He’s been wearing that brace for a long time now. Aggravated or not, the extension was crazy

Botch made a great point in the Provies about it
If he was a UFA you'd never sign him to that contract because of his shoulder. The thought process shouldn't be any different just because he plays for you (technically since he misses a game for every game healthy.) |

This management team needs a "hey, wait a minute" guy who just argues devil's advocate on everything.
Haven't had that since they fired Gilman, who was apparently always asking questions like "why" and "are you sure" which made for a "cumbersome" front office, which is just business speak for the HiPPO not being told he's a genius all the time. |

Well he's got 3 years to rehab it before the next GM kicks his ass to the curb |

If the #Canucks don't sign 20 year old draft pick forward Jakob Stukel he goes back into the NHL Draft but I have been told the 2 sides are talking and a decision could be made this weekend. |

.@CraigJButton on Gudbranson: I'm one of those people trying to make sense of it. The optics on this aren't good. There was debate about extending him to begin with... |

And you reward the GM. WTF
Once again it's another display of TL's unwavering loyalty to his old teammates. |

There are a few different ways to look at it. Perhaps he was untradeable due to his injury. So they had to decide to resign him or let him go for nothing in the offseason. He is scheduled to return in time for training camp and who cares about the rest of this season. If he comes back healthy and is traded next TDL for assets well it's a big win. If he doesn't recover? Well Jim wasted a lot of Aquilini's $
Either way, wow did the Canucks get screwed at the TDL, EG and Tanev (their best assets to deal) were both hurt. Canuck luck/ incompetence |

Trading a guy with a bum shoulder and not being up front about it to the other GM is how you burn bridges though.
And if he did tell other GM’s about it then they likely didn’t offer a whole lot. |

My Brother had 2 shoulder surgeries.
If it's 6 months, it is pretty serious, and not an arthroscopic fix. |

True, but if they sign him they can a) send him back to Calgary for an over age season (provided they have room), b) send him to Utica and opt not to resign Molino or Chaput who will cost more $ or c) he makes the big club out of camp |

Reinforce some the notion that there are those in the organization who prize toughness, size, grit, intangibles over actual ability to play/understand the game. |

D) use the contract spot for a CHL/NCAA/Euro free agent with actual nhl upside |

On the bright side, I’m glad they didn’t feel presssure to draft a kid just because he’s the son of a fan favourite who used to play here.
Can’t have any bias at this level of hockey.
But yeah, Ronning seems like a nice pick that late. We’ll see how his game translates into the pros. |
