If he hits his potential, Dahlin has been compared to Karlsson, Hedman, and Lidstrom. Boqvist has been compared to Karlsson, too.
Svechnikov has been compared to Laine. Tkachuk has been compared to his brother, of course.
Zadina has been compared on a wide spectrum from Tatar to Kane (Patrick, not Evander).
Not sure about Wahlstrom but projected to be a power forward.
Lofty comparables for the projected top picks. - AEL_Fox
The top 3 in this draft appear to be solid picks win superstar potential. If the Hawks can somehow move up to th top 3 that would be an incredible boost to the reload.
It’s more likely that the Hawks draft somewhere between 7 - 10, in those spots I’d like to see the Hawks land Dobson or Bouchard. |

I'd love to see them with a top three pick (especially Dahlin), but my guess is 7th or 8th. I would also love to see them pick Bouchard. |

I wouldn't be so sure on getting such a great return for a goalie pushing 35 coming off a season ending concussion/vertigo injury. Why would any team send high quality assets back for such an injury risk aging player??? I know 95% of your posts are BS, but you are correct that Kane is the best trade chip they have. However, he is not replaceable. He's the type of player that dominates the ice with the puck on his stick, creating goals for himself and his teammates. There are maybe 5 players like that who have equal ability to beat you passing or shooting the puck, all while controlling possession for extended periods of time. - EnzoD
The question is, will the Hawks have the talent to contend for the Cup before Kane's skills start to diminish? If not, trading him for picks and prospects would make a lot of sense. |

If they trade their only superstar then the team morale will suck. They would need a coversion to the Icehogs
style - not likely under Stan.
There is enough talent and with good drafts and a little luck they might even challenge for the last playoff spot. I would hope Carlsson is a surprise, Forsling improves, they draft a power forward, add a tough dman, Crawford is solid at least half of the season, our college boy signs.
Think that is expecting a lot?
Maybe in two years Stan hopes Jokiharju replaces Keith.
Would be nice if both Matson and Hillman make it. Hillman is a question mark. Kyrs would be the third pair but that is a ways off. |

i'd go this except for Kaner and Crow if he's healthy. Have a hunch both Stan and Q stay with few if r any other big changes. With the potential lockout situation the season after next, i think the Hawks ride it out 'til then. - BobP.
There will be some prospects ready to step in, or close to ready, onxe games, resume with new CBA
Maybe Hinostroza goes but Luis sticks by then as 3rd line RW. Maybe Knott and Sikura's brother would be effective 4th line with Kampf the center. |

If kane would be traded(unlikely) what would you the panel trade kane to and for what(besides buffalo)? If crawford is healty yes trade him hawks in my mind are not going anywhere in the next 2 or 3 years so start trading. The core needs to be turn over which shoulda been done after the last cup but if course bowman waited and that's why the hawks are where they are in my opinion. |

Hindsight is perfect vision, but at the time?
Only 5 of that team we’re going to be 30 or older the next season, including Hossa (still a viable player at the time), Keith 31 (coming off winning the Smythe), Sharp (who was dealt), Seabrook (going to be 30 next season) and Crawford (30).
The rest of that championship core (Kane, Toews, Hjarmalsson, Kruger, Saad, Teravainen, Shaw) were 26-28, with no hint of an imminent decline in any (except Bickell).
One would have thought that group would have had a couple more runs in them.
Unfortunately not. We know that now.

I'd be ok with Hughes of the Hawks are picking 9th or 10th, but if they are any higher than that, I'm with Enzo - tvetter
I meant Jack Hughes projected #1 in 2019. Think Hawks will drop low enough next year to contend for him. Unless Oilers got a lock on him too.
I do not think single draft pick #3 will rescue this team, think adding Jonathan Druin on this team make them into playoff team (he was #3)? You need quite a few high draft picks next few years, and the team might compete in a few years when current contracts run out. |

Good points but my point was at that time was the time when their value was at it highest and looking at the big picture and sustaining long term success but now that's all hindsight now like you said. |

Wanna hear something really stupid? Didn't know what to get my son for Christmas so in November I got him two great tickets to tonight's game on the glass. Mucho dinero but this was before the tank was even a glimmer in Q's eye. I hope, but have my doubts, that the Hawks can muster up enough stones against their archrivals to play like men tonight. |

Yeah, amazing when not stuck on a line with people like Jurco and Anisimov how easily DBC scores. Another baffling use of his talent with the recent line decisions.
Great job by Hayden at the net. |

He might just have the best goal scoring hands on the team. Nice to see him get out of that little slump he was in. |
