Eichel’s role and salary match up.
O’Reilly’s does now, but not down the road.

O’Reilly is not good enough offensively to be your second best forward.

They need another high skilled guy who’s capable of 65-70 points. That’s not ROR

If they do get deeper, and O’Reilly’s role decreases, then your paying top 30 $$ for a guy who’s not even on your top line

- sbroads24

ror doesn't kill you if you lock reinhart up for 5 mil per for 8 years and plug a rookie on the other wing

and okposo goes on LTIR

There’s a 0% chance we can’t get someone who is as good as a 2nd line center?
- sbroads24

Neither of us are gonna change our minds, so I'm gonna stop playing this game, but it looks like yet another ROR season of 20g, 35-40a.

He’s 49th among centers in even strength points, despite being 12th in ice time.

That’s not much better

And that’s fine. It’s not like he sucks. I would just sell high

Fwiw, that was the best matinee game for the Sabres all season. Really glad Samsonite and ROR are locked in on the same line. The increase in production when they’re together is undeniable. Great effort by Factor entire shift when goalie was pulled. He gift wrapped the empty netter for Sam.

No...do not do that. There is no way on this planet that Reinhart should be paid more than Connor Brown of Toronto.

looking back in hindsight

what is the difference between phillip rivers and any daulton?

- homiedclown

Team defense? Tom Brady? Rivers had some really good teams and went to the AFC championship at least once, and I believe he played 5 days after knee surgery in that game. Dalton is "O'fer" the playoffs.

Rivers is probably the best QB to have never gone to a Super Bowl.

I'd think Testicleverde gets a mention in that group if Brunell does.

Agreed, but i wonder which hurts the team more. having below average 13 min a night players or below average(relative to that role) 20-25 min a night players
- Sabresfan-365

Honestly one begets the other, having below average players on the bottom half. Read: nigh on useless for the most part. You have the guys at the top trying to do everything which is good for no one. You have Risto trying to be every defenseman at once, the jump up in the play guy, the stay at home guy, the puck mover, the hitter, the poop stirrer.

I paid special attention to the Leafs game and on most of the Leafs entries Risto was already at the circles when the Leafs were just gaining the line, so they have him collapsing like a mother(frank)er and then want him to jump up in the play and when the situation warrants go below the goal line in the O-Zone, and they play him 47 minutes a night. That's not exactly a recipe for success.

No but he won’t even hit 25 5 on 5 points being used as a #1 Center.

It’s not a worry now, but I think there’s an opportunity to sell him at a high point now and get a younger asset

- sbroads24

Agreed. Selling high is a hard thing for any GM to do. We've seen most of this core for 3 years now and they've been bad. I think you have to at least consider trading anyone whose value is at a high point. RoR and Sam are both on that list.

I noticed at the game today, they really miss McCabe for the physical role.

Guhle didn't have a good game either

I forgot Fouts never went.

I think Rivers is miles better than Brunell. Kosar(was on the team that) won the Super Bowl, what are you talking about? Romo was a choke artist.

I'd say Fouts, then Rivers and Moon, then the next group.

I think they will get better. But it shows he doesn’t create offense on his own. Which for that $, he should.

I think he’s a good player, but when this team gets more dynamic and skilled, I think he will be pushed off PP1, and probably see a dip in his points

- sbroads24

Again, to be determined
I’d think Okposo is taken off PP1 before ROR

And even if that’s right,
we’ve got time before that happens
It’s not happening next year
Doubtful for the year after

No one wants a 40pt guy that’s paid 7.5mil
But he’s not that guy
And your constant quips downplay the really good player that he is

We are gonna have around 20mil in Cap room next year

That’s with Okposo & Bogo
And reasonable raises for those needing deals

Overpaying O’Reilly by 1 million does absolutely nothing to prevent us from making moves

It's not "Patrick" either. Paddy is short for Padraig.

Edit: Late, (frank)

- Wetbandit1

Pádraig = Patrick

BOTH “Patty’s” day & “Paddy’s” day are acceptable

Right?!

Good lord. The overreaction by some is comical. None of these quarterbacks are a sure bet. Rosen looks like a stiff wind could blow him over. Allen's accuracy is atrocious. Mayfield is too short. Jackson's style doesn't work in the NFL. Darnold isn't very well liked. Every one of them has multiple flaws. Whatever happens, happens. Beane has been nothing short of savvy thus far.

Not sure they won't like Allen or Jackson(once they go through process) who they may get at 12 with out paying a Kings ransom to get.
