let's play a game

let's say today the jets trade pick 3 this year and the 2019 first to the giants to move up to pick 2

let's also say the browns, for pick 1, says 4 first rd picks to the bills

the bills, only like the usc and ucla kids a lot, view allen as a project like ruldolph and get a bad vibe from mayfield

what do you do?

- homiedclown

In this scenario, I would stay pat as is with 12 and 22 then.
The very real risk however is that some other team, perhaps Miami one pick ahead takes one of the project QB's off the board. So they are then left with say the 5th QB at 12...seems too high to select him there. Another risk os Arizonia feels the same about a project QB and trades into an earlier slot and takes the 2nd (or 1st) project Qb...leaving the Bills outside looking in.
That is why, IF NY Giants are willing to trade out of 2 the Bills absolutely MUST get that pick...similar to McEichel...they are then assured of getting one of the 2 they do like.
I still think Beane has 1 additional move to make to get into 7th or higher...then go to the Giants with that selection making a 2 back to 7 more palatable then a 2 back to 12

If you don't think GM's talk to other coaches about players then you are even more stupid than I thought.

Now look at the contract the Jets paid McCown and then look at the contract the Bills gave McCarron...

It is all for a reason

Trade down from 12 if there is a team willing to give you a first this year and next like the Chiefs did (if there isn't a WR or MLB on the board you love).
- Stripes77

Totally agree.

What's wrong with plugging some holes this year in the draft.

Trade picks to take a qb next year.
Maybe tank a bit , if the season goes bad.
Go 6 -10. Pick #8
Use that draft capital to move up

Holy (frank) how are you still confused by this concept.

They called on every single guy. Every one.

The only one they TALKED about getting research on was the guy they signed.

His old coach is the one that recommended him are you serious right now ..

I bet you AJ was the 4th or 5th option they had

I get why this draft has everyone thinking QB, theres 4 there that can go early. I totally understand why moving up is being discussed.

This new regime in Buffalo is very calculated and hasn't made a move that smells like a complete panic move. Giving up 5 or 6 draft picks to move up to the top 3 smells of complete panic to me.

Just trade up for Rosen and we won't have to draft a QB for another 12 years who gives a poop

That's a little short sighted. The rookie deal for a QB is when you need to try to win, because you can devote cap space to other positions. Look at Seattle for that. If you mortgage other assets to get the QB, you waste the cheap years and winning becomes harder.

Especially with this extremely aging roster that the Bills currently have.

They need to draft guys to fill holes immediately.

They (Beane and McDermott) still have one more year of cleaning out the mess Whaley and company left them.

I'd take McCown or McCarron. Bills won't admit it, but they're both bridge guys. Not sure what the Bills see in McCarron (in an honest, I don't know assessment), but if he's better than Tyrod, that's such a win.

And what a hell of a leg Zay has, the power to kick through one of those windows is pretty impressive. Try him out at punting!

I really just hope they select the best available QB at 12. Then go need at 22. They could really restock this team with all these picks. Plus have a ton of cap space next year to pickup whatever they need.
