Replace the voids left in Rochester from the kids moving up and just dump those 4 players.
You’re missing a valuable winger in this lineup....

Nylander starts the year in Rochester, if anything it does a few things.
Sees if he is ready for the NHL
Keeps his next contract lower
Retain his RFA status on a bridge deal thanks to the slide rule.
It helps the cap in the long term if he actually can play meaningful NHL minutes and be a 50 point winger in the NHL

This all financially responsible moves, I hope his play throws a huge wrench in this plan.

I think the slide rule ends this year, this will have been the second year it was used. he'll be 20 next year so either way it will start year one of his ELC no? |

It looks like they used a call up on Bailey (he had been an emergency recall). If they did, they are out of call ups for the season.

You taught me that recently, I was talking about starting here next season.
He hasn’t earned the call up this year. Bailey and Baptiste earned their spots.

Bills picks:
1 (12)
1 (22)
2 (53)
2 (56)
3 (65)
3 (96)
4 (121)
5 (166)
6 (187)
That's easily 4 starters, maybe more.
So what do the Bills need. Quarterback, Wide receiver, Defensive tackle, Linebacker, Cornerback.
WR - Outside of QB, Bills need a very talented WR. James Washington is a big play, speedy guy. Would fit great. Calvin Ridley could also be available at 22. Re-sign Deonte Thompson. See what the (frank) is up with Zay Jones, but I expect a much better 2018 and him growing a lot if this latest stunt manages to blow over with some medication.
RT - Jordan Mills pretty much sucks. Let's see if we can draft a starter here. Two guys that could be available to start are Tyrell Crosby and Brian O'Neill. Use one of the 2nds on one of these guys. If a first round graded guy drops, snag him.
RG - Vlad Ducasse is bad and it gets worse. Let's consider Will Hernandez with our other 2nd round pick. Guy is stellar with room to grow. He's an LG, but perhaps he can play RG and replace Incognito when the time comes. Isaiah Wynn is another guy to consider with similar talent. Could stand to gain a few lb.
C - Yikes. Ryan Groy is ok, and he's probably going to win the starting battle over Bodine. But that's not great. Consider using a 3rd rounder with potential to be a great starter in year 2. Billy Price or Frank Ragnow could be available here.
LB - We need a quality starter. Use one of the 2nds or one of the 3rds right here. LB class is not very deep. Look at guys like Malik Jefferson or Rashaan Evans.
Now we go to our depth guys, fill in gaps and maybe starters for 2019. One of those guys needs to be ready to start for Kyle.
DT - Trenton Thompson or BJ Hill are worth a look
RB - Let's find us a Kareem Hill. Lots of RB depth in this draft. BPA at this point.
CB - Maybe a 2 or 3 round guy that we need.We have our starters for this year, and Vontae is old. Let's find a number 3/4 with potential for 2. - TheSabresTaco
Yeah, but you don't have to fill every hole in one draft, and it's not feasible to think you even could.
Get your QB and build around him. Yes, good to great QBs are found outside the top 5/10, but the ceiling is way higher on a top 5/10 guy. |

It's interesting how the new regime handles things. They used call ups to let Baptiste and Guhle play in the AHL playoffs, when they were already on the NHL roster. They didn't give CJ Smith a single game (has anyone in Rochester done more to earn it?) They didn't give Nylander a chance, after his play has noticeably picked up.
I have no problem with it, and there's no right or wrong answer. It seems like they are more serious about Rochester than merit call ups or looking at top prospects. Bailey, Baptiste, and Ullmark lose their waiver exemption next season. Interesting calls to make surrounding all three this summer. |

Mittelstadt was drafted to play C not wing. I cant find the exact article but Botts was quoted after Mittelstadt was drafted that he came from an organization that was built down the middle. Here is my lineup projection with us picking 2nd or 3rd in the draft.
FA signing (Vanek ?)-Eichel-Sveh/Zadina
Nylander-ROR-Reinhart (although i believe he is moved for LW or D help in this scenario)
Smith-Mittelstadt-Okposo
Bailey-Erod-Baptiste

He's from Toronto, so if the leafs don't make a play there may be an avenue there for us. |
