This is why you sit on your hands during the first 2-3 days of UFA and then make calls on the guys who have realized that they aren’t getting the money/term/roles from good teams like they had hoped. - Nucker101
For sure. You should be able to always offer guys a chance to show skill and get traded to a contender. Kunitz, Joel Ward, Patrick Sharp. All guys I would sign for 1x1 and igve them a shot at top6 and put up enough points to bring back a pick. There's also a fair mount of journeymen d-men that could do a much better job than several of our current players and also possibly be TDL or allow us to move current guys with value. When your getting set to finish dead last, it does make you wonder why you're hanging onto some of these players. The narrative of wanting to compete.... I mean, you aren't really competing much. Clearly. |

Who had any interest in taking them??
Imagine the phone calls.....
"Yeah, you know, like, its JB here from Vancouver, Can i interest you in a Ben Hutton, he's fat as f&ck, sucks at his job and is regularly scratched...No?"
Maybe Guddy? he needs shoulder surgery first tho.
Edler? Doesnt wave much, also, what kinda country clubs you have near town?
Maybe Sven or Granlund? They cant play.
Dowd? We forgot he even played for us.
Gaunce? he scores once every 100 games, but he's amazing in the DZONE!! Whats that? Hard pass...
Sedins? just joking we resigned them for 3 more years
MDZ? He can spin the f&ck outta some LPs, you know, pump up the jam before games.
The giveaway machine, Derek Pouliot? We're giving him away, still a no?
Tanev? never mind he's hurt, or will be hurt"
Yeah I imagine the the doors had to be replaced with the amount of teams banging on them - Brooks_Light
lol...I have to think back to the irony here. When Gillis was offered the 8th overall pick in 2012 for Edler and he said no...that pick was traded to PIT where PIT took Pouliot. Now we have both Edler and Pouliot here
But I always wondered who Gillis would have took at 8OA in that 2012 draft if that Edler deal went through.
It may have been Pouliot anyways lol |

You are right about nobody wanting our trash. Although the team needs to do a better job identifying UFA's that can be flipped for assets as well. It's not going to get any easier as most UFA's will try and avoid Vancouver this summer I imagine. - CanuckDon
We need a new flipper and not old marble mouth doing it .
" You know. I love Sven but hey did you know Trev had a flat tire today? What were we talking about ? Oh yeah Granlund and a second for a second ? We got the good Granlund , I think his name is Makail or Marko , maybe it's Merv. I will get back to you, click !!!!" |

Depending on the odds, I'd feel comfortable putting money down that MDZ gets extended a week before the deadline.

Judging from his comments during the 2nd half of this season, I don't think he's loving it so far lol |

I don't think the market for him is going to exist. It'll be interesting to see how teams treat Cole, Sbisa and Johnson. |
