I like Gaunce but a team that struggles to score can't have players that go 100 games without scoring . You can find 15 players that are UFAs that can put up 8-10 goals for 1 mil.

Again I like him but he does need to score more or guys will come in and do exactly that

I’d rather have a guy who gets 3-4 less goals than most 4th liners but allows less goals than most 4th liners while playing way harder mins than most 4th liners.

He’s indirectly creating more offense for the other 3 lines by freeing them up for easier minutes.

Again, if people can’t grasp this and just want to look at point totals then don’t complain about Daniel scoring 20 goals despite getting cupcake mins + sucking defensively. If you’re going to ignore usage for Gaunce but bring it up to rip the Sedins then you’re being biased and only looking at numbers that you want to.

The 4th liners scoring more goals around the league are getting way easier minutes + usually allowing more goals as well.

Gaunce is literally the perfect example of a guy you want in the lineup then. You keep mentioning his goal totals but how is his +/- at 0 if he’s not that effective? He plays on a poop team and starts almost every shift on the defensive zone and he’s an even player lol.

Bottom line for me:
If my 4th liner can break even despite getting a ridiculous amount of dzone starts, I don’t care if he does it by scoring 20 goals and giving up 20 or scoring zero and giving up zero.


But if my Top 9 players are getting normal/easy minutes and getting outplayed, then I’m looking to upgrade on them.
