Best ever.

He’s like Brad Marchant, everybody hates him, except the team and their fans ... as they count the hardware in the trophy case.

I don't see wanting to win and defending team mates as a cocky attitude

If he was 2 inches taller he is the QB I would want them to draft

- homiedclown

He seemed pretty cocky throughout his college career
Has toned it down a bit
I’m a Texas fan, so I’ve seen a lot of Baker

I’m not saying i don’t like him as a player,
just that the comparisons to Manziel had to do with attitude, not his play/abilities

Breese, Wilson. They find ways to be super accurate by adjusting in the pocket to find the throwing lanes.

Every QB in this class has flaws of some sort.
I want the guy who has consistently been the most accurate over the long night and short term.

- IonSabres

I think with the way offenses are run now,
it’s easier to be 6’1 & still be successful

Mayfield’s height is still a concern...
but if i had to bet on whether or not he’d still be a good QB, I’d say yes

Why exactly is height a concern for a QB?

As far as I'm concerned he was justified in that. The Kansas players refused to shake his hands at the coin-flip.

The ball grab was later that same game.

Ask Tyrod.

It's not a problem for some QBs, Flutie, Brees, Wilson, Rodgers(no way in hell is he 6'2"), but some guys, like Tyrod, can't see over/through the line.

Watched every game of his this year but 2

I like him a lot
He’s very accurate, can make all the throws
Makes good decisions (for the most part), even though he’s a bit of a gunslinger
A lot of that had to do with Ok St having a terrible defense though
I wouldn’t be surprised if he threw the most passes in College this year
Was in a similar circumstance to Rosen where the game was on his back week in & week out

If he’s the QB we ended up with (taking him 22nd, or possibly even later),
I’d be happy

BUT...
he has ZERO experience in a pro offense,
and I’m pretty sure he didn’t take 1 snap under center this year
I don’t think he’d be ready to start right away
Besides learning footwork from under center, he has to learn how to see defenses from there as well
It’s a lot easier when you’re in shotgun to get a read on the whole field
And defenses are much better & more complicated in the NFL (obviously)

I’d trade down from 22 & get an extra late 2nd
Pick him late in the first
Start McCarron for the season
Maybe get him some games late if we are out of the playoffs

Seriously?

Seeing over the line
Reading defenses
Not getting your passes blocked

Yeah...
Brees & Wilson are good enough to overcome that
They’re the EXCEPTIONS,
not the rule

Not saying Mayfield can’t also...
but it’s something he will have to deal with

Taking deeper drops
Adjusting the angle he throws at
Etc

Word out of the GM meetings is Calgary GM Brad Treliving will look to add a first-round pick in this year’s draft. The Flames traded their 2018 selection to the Islanders in the Travis Hamonic deal, and will try to replace it. That would likely mean a major move, but the way this season is ending necessitates something big.

In the even that this team isn't picking top 4 or 5, Id try and take advantage of a desperate calgary team.

Even if he's every bit 6'2"(he's not) it's still not tall. It's a thing with him, he's touchy about his height.

For the sake of argument and to prove this team is not a "tank team".

Keeping Lehner - Why not? Signed him for a one year prove it deal.

Josefson - 4th line center depth and SO specialist. Not the worst signing.

Nolan (waivers) - Clearly trying to change the culture here. He plays way more than he should, though.

Bowl u (trade) - A cheap redemption project. It was a smart gamble for a lottery ticket. Never meant to play more than bottom 3 minutes. He fits this system but is still a bonehead, hence a 3rd round pick.

Chad - Backup goalie? Seems fine to me.

Pommer (trade) - Necessity in order to fill a major need in getting more top 4 dmen. Pommer fills nicely on the third line, and could likely be more successful without Larsson sucking the life out of him. You must remember, we traded scraps for Scandella, there was going to be a cap dump.

Pouilot - Look at our left wing depth and look at the free agents available. Not much value there. He's performed about as expected. No one on the Amerks was ready to take over for him. He's here for the rest of the year. Big deal.

Tennyson - Solid depth and decent in a pinch. But he was signed for depth. Stayed up too long when Guhle and Nelson weren't ready to come up yet.

Griffith - Earned a spot out of camp. Thankfully, Bailey, Baptiste and Erod are here playing well enough and Grif is back where he belongs.

Redmond (trade) - This has been an excellent trade for the Amerks. He's the leading defensive scorer and one of the team's leading scorers. No one here wanted D-lo. I'd make this trade 8 days a week.

Cristo - Who's this?

kept Moulson for 14 games - this isn't even worth discussing. Botts gave him a chance, when he proved ineffective, he dumped him to the minors. There's nothing wrong here.

Hired rookie soft friendly nice coach - In your opinion. It's widely reported that in private (locker room, practices etc) he's as fiery and passionate as Torts. His players respect him because Housley respects them and doesn't roast them in the media. Yeah, he's a rookie and has improvements. And sure, maybe some tactics aren't sinking in. But apparently ownership and Botterill like the job he's doing. And there must be a reason for that.

Replaced the #1 pp coach - What if I told you it was a two way street, and Woods chose to go to MIN. If, however, it was up to Housley, he made a mistake. But we don't know that.

All in all, the moves done were to reverse culture, fill in massive holes and try to build this thing up again. This team needs so much more and the way to build a team is through the draft. FA's are complimentary pieces 95% of the time. The biggest trade he made was a player for player trade that brought in a legitimate defenseman. He didn't make a tank team. It was already here.

- TheSabresTaco

Sure man, you must really hate jbotts for all these "bad" moves. If this was his idea of a winning formula, he would /will be fired the day after the season ends.

It's ok to have a different opinion.

This is a %100 designed to get an early pick team.

They just arn't advertising like last time (2015)

The best 10 players were already here:
Eichel
Ror
Risto
Sam
Okposo
Mccabe
Guhle
Nelson
Erod

And even kane

Jbotts added the rest:
Pouilot
Joshepson
Nolan
Pommer
Scandella- decent and steady
Antipin
Wilson - who had played great
Resigned lehner
Chad
Tennyson
Griffith

Of course jbotts will not be fired as well.
He is doing exactly what he agreed to do when meeting with pegula when accepting the job.

Because 99 times out of 100 .... you can't play in this league if you are under 6'2" or so.
