Word out of the GM meetings is Calgary GM Brad Treliving will look to add a first-round pick in this year’s draft. The Flames traded their 2018 selection to the Islanders in the Travis Hamonic deal, and will try to replace it. That would likely mean a major move, but the way this season is ending necessitates something big.
In the even that this team isn't picking top 4 or 5, Id try and take advantage of a desperate calgary team. - Sabresfan-365
What are they trading though?
Can’t see them moving Johnny, Monahan, Tkachuk or Hamilton...
Who else do they have that you’d give up a top10 pick for?

They are destroying Chicago ........... going for a season sweep of them tonight if you can believe that. - fastek
And Q might get fired for what’s going on in Chicago
Should be the GM though
He’s the one that Fd them
Proof that no matter how good your “core” is,
you still need a supporting cast
Kane, Toews & co. don’t suddenly suck
How many years was Pitt just squeaking by bc Crosby & Malkin had a mediocre team around them? |

Idk that they’d trade Andersson either,
but it would have to be something like that
Even after Dahlin,
there’s like 4 or 5 really good defensemen prospects that are gonna go top10/12 in this year’s draft
Interesting thought...
hard to see Botts trade a top10 pick though
And hopefully we are picking top3,
so we won’t even have to worry about it |

Watched every game of his this year but 2
I like him a lot
He’s very accurate, can make all the throws
Makes good decisions (for the most part), even though he’s a bit of a gunslinger
A lot of that had to do with Ok St having a terrible defense though
I wouldn’t be surprised if he threw the most passes in College this year
Was in a similar circumstance to Rosen where the game was on his back week in & week out
If he’s the QB we ended up with (taking him 22nd, or possibly even later),
I’d be happy
BUT...
he has ZERO experience in a pro offense,
and I’m pretty sure he didn’t take 1 snap under center this year
I don’t think he’d be ready to start right away
Besides learning footwork from under center, he has to learn how to see defenses from there as well
It’s a lot easier when you’re in shotgun to get a read on the whole field
And defenses are much better & more complicated in the NFL (obviously)
I’d trade down from 22 & get an extra late 2nd
Pick him late in the first
Start McCarron for the season
Maybe get him some games late if we are out of the playoffs - jdfitz77

throw Cameron Meredith a contract
bears probably won't match it, and it costs us nothing in assets |

Not good
Benjamin is good
Jones, who knows?
A couple of depth guys (Streeter/Holmes) who haven’t really done much at all, at least not in years
And a few guys who we don’t know much about...
They must plan on drafting someone in the 1st |

He was good, for sure
I just don’t really find myself caring at all who does & doesn’t get in various Hall of Fames
Just not something that ever really struck a chord with me one way or the other |

Seriously?
Seeing over the line
Reading defenses
Not getting your passes blocked
Yeah...
Brees & Wilson are good enough to overcome that
They’re the EXCEPTIONS,
not the rule
Not saying Mayfield can’t also...
but it’s something he will have to deal with
Taking deeper drops
Adjusting the angle he throws at
Etc - jdfitz77
Isn’t this what he has done in college and proved that he can do it?
Reading Defenses isn’t dependent on size...2-3 inches isn’t going to matter for that.
Seeing down field and being able to complete the pass on time, on target I get it...but in his case, he has already proven to be an EXCEPTION not the rule, right.
He completes more passes than the other QBs and is more accurate. He has done that by moving in the pocket and finding th3 throwing lanes as Brees and Wilson have done.
The kid is going to be very, very good. |

Doing it in college, and doing it in the NFL are 2 different things
I don’t think Mayfield will be a bust
But his height does present challenges he will have to work through, just like Brees & Wilson have
Can Mayfield as well?
We will see

I’d like to see the Bills move into 6 (Indy) or 7 (Bucs) as another piece to the puzzle of moving up to get...you guessed it, Baker Mayfield.
6 is worth 1,600 points, while 7 is 1,500 according to JimmyJohn’s Vale Chart.
Bill’s 22nd is worth 780
This leaves a gap of 820 or 720 to close.
Shaq Lawson was the 19th pick in 2016...a value of 875...probably have to discount that somewhat...say 20%?...making him worth say 700sh...brings that package to 1480...pretty, pretty close. Both teams need D, could appeal to them.
Does anyone have Beane’s phone number or email?
The 6/7th and 12 should get you into 2 or damn near close as it is 2,800/2,700 points with the 2nd valued at 2,600. May need to add the Bills 3rd worth an extra 116 to fully pay for the premium. |

True for every QB, as we have seen time and time again by middling it.
For exceptional players, exceptions exist.
Ok, done debating as going further on this isn’t going to resolve anything.
I understand the general application of the height concern. |
