To bad for them I guess. That franchise has won 6 cups to our zero (unless you count the Millionaires) lol. I get the fact that teams need to keep building to win and the Hawks contract situation is tough but oh well. They are winners. Try watching a sports franchise for 50 years with no championship and I guarantee you their attitude would change.

Sure, but to criticize current/previous management for contracts that allowed them to win cups is stupid. Suffering for the next 5-6 years is well worth it.

Keith signed for a steal of a cap hit in 2009, before they won the 3 cups.

Kane and Toews signed in July of 2014, 1 year before they won their third cup. Yes, they were still under contract for that 3rd cup season, but who knows if things play out the same way if both players head into that playoff run knowing that they're pending UFA's and need to stay healthy to get paid max dollars. Plus who knows how it would effect team morale and such.

The contract they have a right to hate is the Seabrook one, it was signed after the 3rd cup win and a lot of Seabrook's underlying numbers showed that he was declining defensively.

Butterfly effect, the team would look much different. Gillis would be a God here and would get at least 3 years of leash after a cup win. Benning and Linden wouldn't be anywhere near this team, at least not for a few years.

Yeah, but you quoted me first, I was replying to manvanfan saying that Hawks fans are pissed about the contracts despite the cup wins. they're bigger whiners than canuck fans if that's true, at least we have a reason for being filled with frustration lol.


I agree with you that they have a right to want a rebuild. Kinda hard to move 2 guys making 10M+ with NMC's until 2023. The players hold all the power. What do they realistically want from management? I'd probably be pissed about the Seabrook contract, the Saad-Panarin trade, and I'd want them to move guys like Anismov/Saad/Crawford for prospects/picks.

Saad would be selling low right now though and Crawford's health is in question apparently. So really I guess I'd be annoyed that they haven't traded Anisimov.
