Let me see if i get this right...

Paul Byron only has 2 less goals than O’Reilly this year...
so it would be better to have Byron

But would u say the same about Pavelski & Backstrom?
Who also play MUCH more than Byron,
but only have 1 more goal...

Crap like this is the problem with just looking at the numbers
Even the best analytics stats don’t tell the whole story

Pretty much everything would have to go right. I don't consider it realistic, with so much youth and inexperience.

Do you think the fans in Colorado picked them to race up the charts to .500 this year?

Do you think the fans in Edmonton or Ottawa foresaw such a drop after reaching the conf. finals last year ?

Things can change quick in the NHL .. you just never know.

I don't know that anyone thought they'd be this bad, but they were never as good as they seemed last year

But lets say you were a fan of that team .......... your hope and expectations after last year would have been through the roof going into this year.

Bro I’m biggest Tanker on the board but this is not tanking they are just really really bad ..

Tanking would be keeping jack out
Tanking would be not playing Brandon
Tanking would be not playing Nelson
Tanking would be not playing our future number one goalie
Tanking would be not bringing up people that can score

The team is just bad that’s it

I don’t know how you think this team is going to end up with 89 to 90 points next year ..

They will still be in the bottom but they’ll be slightly better than the worst team in the league

- gerbe75pts[/img]

So do we root for them to win or lose next year? I’d like to know ahead of time so I don’t get caught off guard.

If we're moving up to number one it's for Sam who is the best quarterback in the draft but I never thought we would have a chance to draft him

You didn't get it right. You're talking analytics while comparing the goal scoring numbers of guys who aren't primarily known for goal scoring (well anymore that is)

He's good, he's not a core player. both statements can be true.

Being good and being worth 50 mil over 70 years with #1C like ice time, those two can't both be true.

And Im sourcing basic, advanced stats and the eye test.
He rarely looks like someone you want as part of your core.

It's basically going to be the same next year but I would say we would probably be likely closer to 5,6th spot

I’m so god damn confused.

He’s trying to bash analytics by listing basic goals.

Someone help me out?

I wouldn’t say meaningless...
but u can’t go ONLY by the numbers
Have to put them into context,
Bc not everything is measurable

Yet they somehow beat true “contenders” Boston
And were 1 goal from being in the Cup

Sure, it was a great run
But they didn’t “suck”
