No they weren't. When the statement came out, they said they will not cut him. The missing words were - TheSabresTaco[If we can't find a trade partner before the start of the league year,] we have no problem paying his bonus.
You can believe what you want ..
they were going to cut him but the Browns were dumb enough to trade for him |

whos the only fast riser? mayfield ... who won the heisman? the other 3 have been talked about as top 10 picks for at least 2 years now - robz228
Mayfield had the best season
Darnold was the most talked about before the season
Rosen Allen and Darnold all had underwhelming seasons
There isn't a clear cut favorite anywhere |

Sure, and I agree to an extent with this, but we don't know who they like. That's my point.
They could like Rosen a lot, but not have the ammo to trade up and meet the Giants demands.
They could like Jackson almost as much as Rosen, and know he will be there at 12.
The smarter play is waiting in that case.
If they only love one guy, then sure, get him at all costs - sbroads24
In this exact scenario I'd be fine with it. But if they don't take Jackson at 12, then trading for 12 makes 0 sense and makes them look like fools. |

You do know they've moved up already right?
They moved from 21 to 12
so they didn't just stay put - Stripes77
Bro if they just moved from 21 to 12 and just stay there I bet you half the Bills fan base would be like this organization is run by scaredy cats |

Which you aren't
Not that I don't disagree with what you have there
Out of those 4 the one that I think would work best is Mayfield for the Bills but raw talent wise then yes that's right.
I wouldn't be surprised if Allen is a Brown and Darnold is the QB that falls
The Jets seem like a Mayfield/Rosen fit

Casey Mittselstadt has agreed to terms on an entry-level deal with BUF. Expected to join the Sabres’ NHL roster later this week.
Now does him playing in games burn a year?
Or is it a game requirement? |

I cannot listen to any reasoning for trading to 12 a month before the draft other than using it to slingshot higher. That is why they did it, 100%, indisputable. You have no clue who is going to be there.
If they end up using pick 12 it is a blunder, and a total asset mismanagement. |

depends on the age he is signed his contract
If a player who is signed to an entry-level contract and is 18 or 19 years of age (as of September 15 of the signing year), does not play in a minimum of 10 NHL games (including both regular season and playoffs; AHL games do not count), their contract is considered to ‘slide’, or extend, by one year.
He is still 19 by the date...since he has a November birthday so he should be able to slide |

Yes, a blunder that was saved by getting lucky. If they take jackson there and hes a hall of famer its still a blunder. Don't be results oriented. |

You mean how he was traded before the season?
The only thing that was "free" in my eyes was the Tyrod trade but I really think the Bills would have kept him for this year if they couldn't find someone to trade for him and use him as a bridge guy - Stripes77
no its all free!!!
