Make San Jose Great Again.
Here's San Jose's schedule since the deadline
8 games against non playoff teams
4 games against playoff teams
2 of those 4 games are against teams with the last wild card spot in Jersey, and St. Louis.
Yes, Evander Kane is the sole reason theyve been on a winning streak. Not an incredibly easy schedule - sbroads24
Wow...
the extent you’ll go to for the Kane bashing is just comical
Can u really just not admit he’s a good player? |

To be a better player.. that playoff experience he would have learned a lot and helped / met his future teammates...
Going to be interested to hear jb talk about these signings... - gordong
He will learn how to be a better pro like Clayton Keller did in the tournament coming up he’ll be with Jack |

I cannot listen to any reasoning for trading to 12 a month before the draft other than using it to slingshot higher. That is why they did it, 100%, indisputable. You have no clue who is going to be there.
If they end up using pick 12 it is a blunder, and a total asset mismanagement. - robz228
How is trading a worse pick (21) and a guy that wouldn’t even start for us with a albatross salary for pick 12 “bad asset management”
If we stay at 12 that guy is still better who we would get at 21. Regardless who we pick.
If we wanted one of the sams and the top two teams won’t trade us their picks how is it the Bills fault. |

Borgen & Mittelstadt signed
Good news
Hopefully enough to stop the constant whining that’s been going on here |

Finally someone else gets it.
This fan base is still all doom and gloom it seems.
There is a ton of work that needs to be done to this team to make them contenders. One of which is getting a franchise QB. Yes that is the most important piece, however there are still a lot of holes to fill.
They need to draft the right guy, it doesn't matter where they pick him, 1, 2, 9, 12, 21, 65 etc. Just get the right guy. |

@TSNBobMcKenzie
Because Mittelstadt is a late birthdate (Nov/98), he burns the first-year of his entry-level contract as soon as he signs it, but he does not get to count this season as a pro year, which means he won’t need to be protected for expansion draft (assuming it’s in 2020). - Stripes77

Kane was really good in that game
I watched the Flames game where he scored 4.
1 was a lucky goal but the other 3 were straight up power forward playoff type goals one of which he made a great pass and went to the dirty area to tap in a rebound.
I am excited to see Kane in the playoffs.
That being said he isn't a main piece and wouldn't be a main piece in Buffalo even though he wanted to be paid like it.
Let someone overpay for him (or he stays in San Jose)
I hope they get a first for him and then we can be done with this Kane talk.
He is a good player just not a player for this team now, he would be a perfect guy to add when the roster is ready, not a guy to build around.
The end. |

Unless you're specifically targeting a guy, trading down is always going to be smarter than trading up. And you aren't going to be specifically targeting a guy a month away from the draft with the 12th pick.
Unless there are 12 guys they have graded equally, its a stupid trade.
-- edit
And even then, trading up for anything besides a quarterback is dumb. |

Someone can’t trade up to #2? |

He falls into this exception to the ELC slide rule. I find it odd that it uses calendar year, rather than league year. Either way, good day for the team!
"An exception to this rule is that if the player is 19 on September 15 of the first year of their contract, and turns 20 between September 16 and December 31, their contract does not slide." |

I'm SUPER excited. I didn't think Borgen would sign and thought Mitts was going another year.
It's a good day, Tater, indeed. |

he could go there, but hes ineligible for playoffs(?) and it would burn a year of his ELC anyways, so why bother. - robz228
He's eligible for Rochester at this point. He won't go there, but he technically could. Once he steps foot on the ice for the Sabres, he's DQ from playing there this year.
There is no age restriction for Non-CHLers for the AHL.
He could very well start the season in Rochester next season. |
