I'd prefer to see Brock exposed

I heard Sutter stopped pulling his out after Brock showed up...

Nice. Hope we get a shot at him with our 2nd.

That would be great, have him play at the Young Stars here in town in Sept.

He sounds like someone who's been hurt in the past by overhyping mediocre Canuck prospects and now he's jumped all the way onto the other side of the fence and is super cautious about every prospect for fear of getting his heart broken again.

Gaudette is one of the better prospects in hockey. We'll see if he becomes an impact NHL'er, but it's just flat out stupid to suggest that every team has a prospect like him lol.

- Nucker101

Dude, McDavid isn't a prospect anymore so no, not all teams have a PROSPECT of his caliber.

I can tell you with a straight face that the Avs as a team have played much better than the Oilers. I've seen both teams play some games this year. One team has shaky goaltending and struggles to play as a unit, the other has gotten really good goaltending on most nights and gets the most of it's talent.

If you disagree that the Avs supporting cast has played worse than the Oilers then you're following the wrong sport.

Colorado goes from last to wildcard Edmonton goes from 2nd in the pacific to non-playoff team. I, personally, don't see how you can look at the two lineups and say Edmonton's is worse. Not that much has changed and Colorado has clearly responded well to an awful year.

I really don't understand what you're trying to say here, this has nothing to do with McJ vs MacK lol

The Stars have a more talented lineup than Vegas, doesn't mean that I think Neal/W.Karlsson are better than Seguin/Benn now lol.

what a bizarre thing for Biech to say. Pretty sure he is winning the hobey. Do 31 players win the Hobey every year? Perhaps 5 or 6 teams have a prospect with similar value in the NCAA but he is on drugs.
- CanuckDon

our standards for prospects has been really low, for a really long time. This is the first time, in the last 10 years, that I can remember having between 5-6 prospects that look like a sure fit to become NHL'ers. I don't think Ryan was speaking specifically to hobey baker finalists, or even impact prospects, but just that most teams (if their prized prospects aren't currently on their team) have a good handful of prospects that are knocking on the door, much like Vancouver's are now.

but it does. Because if the leader of the team leads their team to the post-season, they win the Hart. It's literally how that award has worked for the past three decades.

Should've traded Tanev, so everyone would get the 8's they wanted

Most fanbases do 100% tend to overrate "B" grade prospects, the guys who are promising but not bluechip prospects like EP. The cold hard truth is more than 50% of those guys don't end up becoming legit top 9 forwards or top 4 dmen.

absolutely 100% agree. I try not to put any hype on any prospects until they have a couple seasons under their belt.

I'm not arguing who will win it, I'm arguing who I personally think should win it.

I agree that McJesus has no chance to win the Hart, he'll get some 2nd and 3rd place votes, but little to no 1st place votes.

Biech is probably one of the 1000 Canuck fans that thought Cassels was a lock for the NHL. I watched the kid play one game in junior and immediatley determined he had no future. Expectations should be tempered about Gaudette (and all prospects) but I would be surprised if he isn't a solid pro. He has the tools and attitude to surprise.

Komarov Reaves and Descharnais work as stop gaps.
- Reubenkincade

I like Komarov and Reeves(can protect Bo, Boeser and EP) but Deharnais is where offense and quality hockey goes to die. There are value free agents out there to be had on reasonable 1 or 2 year deals until the kids develop in to real pro players. The one theme that gets repeated here is no long term commitments to veteran players. The Gagner and Del Zotto deals aren't the worst in the league but they do make things tough for the Canucks. Stop gap is the way to go, this team is about 3 years away from competing for a playoff spot. That's good now the Kids can come in and learn and develop together, a la the Winnipeg model and to a lesser extent the Toronto model.

We have reason for optimism but it's tough to see the forest through the Tryamkin when you are stuck in the dog days waiting for next season.

I'm cool with trading Tanev at the draft, just not for a garbage return. A late 2nd and another prospect that some team is no longer excited about would be a pathetic return.
