So in one breath he's terrible, he sucks, etc..., but on the other he might move the NYR up four spots inside the top-10 in the first round? - eichiefs9
When did ur reading comprehension get on the level of Dundee’s?
I've been telling you dumbasses that. Jeez. - Pete V
Hey I never said he was awful, I just wasn't sold on him after his WJC. But I've seen him play a few times with Michigan now and he's looked really good. Looks bigger than the 5'10" he's listed at, too.

Because Mittelstadt is a late birthdate (Nov/98), he burns the first-year of his entry-level contract as soon as he signs it, but he does not get to count this season as a pro year, which means he won’t need to be protected for expansion draft (assuming it’s in 2020). - jimbo83
Seems silly to willingly burn a year off the kid's EL contract, why not just wait till the season is over?

Meh, not like the Sabres are up against the cap and desperately need that extra year of a super-cheap deal. He'll be safe from a potential expansion draft which is all they really care about at this juncture, I'm sure.

no, but why lose a year on the deal of you can easily avoid it?
