The biggest takeaway from it all is assuming there is an expansion draft in 2020 he is still protected by the same rules they used for Vegas so GMJB wouldn't have to use one of his protections on him.

It's a double edged sword for the player too. Yes, they get their next contract sooner, but he only has 2 years to prove he's worth a bigger contract instead of 3. That 3rd year can really that get player a big payday
