Andrew Peters is an idiot. If you listen to him talk about himself, you would think he was an accomplished NHL player and not just a marginal circus act. - Khmylev
I use to hate him but he has some pretty good stories
Rivet sounds like he wants to punch both Marty and Andrew right now |

Once we comprise a roster of 23 players who make $2.8 million each, we will be good. Then nobody will play more than anybody else, all of our centers will win exactly 50% of their faceoffs (which don't matter, btw), and nobody will be over or underpaid - jcragcrumple
Will it matter if our special teams are good? Will a player be valuable if there's great on the pp but below average in 5v5? |

Of course not. GMJB is already lobbying to make PPs optional. The Sabres will decline every powerplay because our players will be so skilled in the art of 5-on-5 scoring, that PPs will actually be detrimental |

That's interesting. How about faceoffs? Will we implement a 25% FOW max? Research suggests winning more than 25% is detrimental as well. |

I posted numbers the other day
ROR averages about 8 per game
If i remember right, Kopitar is around 5.5
That’s roughly 30% more,
and that’s a HUGE difference
It adds up - jdfitz77
why are you cherry picking your stats? i posted the stats of the next 6 closest guys to ROR's since you claim he sees SOOOOOOO many more than everyone else when in fact he doesn't. |

He has 3 more FOW per game than Crosby, second in the league for FOW/game.

We will have 4 centers that win exactly 50% of their draws. That way, the research can continue with no ill-effects. Optimally, we would have every center lose every draw, but that looks both unlikely and difficult to achiece |

I just don't understand playing Casey at center right away
They really should just let him ride shotgun with Jack and build some confidence and go from there - gerbe75pts
Wow, just wow.
Have you watched him play?
He wants the puck in his stick every second...and he should.
You thought Kane smothered Jack, hold poop, they’ll be giving Jack shock therapy after every shift. |

This team would be better if there were 18 Scott Wilsons on the team. |

I know, i don't read much into because i dont personally buy that there's a big correlation between FOW and point production. There may be a small one in certain scenarios, but for an individual over an 82 game season? probably not.
His point was that the reason ROR doesnt look 7.5 mil good is that hes receiving so many more defensive zone starts, which i pointed out isn't the case. He sees about 1.25 more d-zone starts per game than guys like Couturier. |

He's not the problem, no one making under $4 million dollars is responsible for sucking. We should expect nothing of players who suck, and be happy with it.
Only players who make more than $4mil can be found culpable for this team being bad. - jcragcrumple
This is partially true.
A guy who’s making under 2 mil, playing 14 min a night shouldn’t really be blamed for much. He’s not paid to make a difference, and he doesn’t. |

Exactly.
The plan is put into motion: everyone will make just slightly under 3 mil. That way, everyone will overachieve, while no one will ultimately be responsible should they fail. |

Or just have your highly paid players make an impact.
Eichel might never be worth 10 mil ( or at least not for a few years) but when he’s performing he’s literally the reason we win games.
Can’t say that for O’Reilly or Okposo etc.
O’Reilly has a secondary PP assist in 5 games. That’s about as much as a non-factor as you can be |

You're preaching to the choir. $2.92m per player, buyout Eichel, trade ROR and waive Okposo.
The Oilers have had about enough of McDavid, i hear. It's unacceptable that they will miss the playoffs while paying him 1.67 O'Reilly contracts (code for overpaid 4th liners). expect a trade this summer. |

Seriously. I don't understand his point.
ROR's production at both ends doesn't total up and match his salary, not even close. And that's not including the back injury that may have a longer impact than we realize.
If you can get good value for him in the offsesaon, why wouldn't you do it? |

Probably better than our odds to land Dahlin, no matter where we end up in the standings. |

Kane would hog the puck skate around with it shoot it and if he ever passed it would be the dumbest pass ever
Unlike Casey that would skate around with the Puck and actually has a hockey IQ would set up Jack and Jack with set up him |

I know people hate talking about Ryan O'Reilly... But
Where do you think he could end up and what package?
I'm thinking Arizona , 1st 2018, OEL - gerbe75pts
If we can trade O’Reilly for OEL & their 1st this year then I’d do that in a heartbeat
But there’s no freaking way that happens |
