Its not the total money thats the issue. teams like arizona and carolina, the latter of whom is too cheap to pay their next GM market value, aren't going to take on contracts where the majority of the pay is coming in huge bonuses

ive heard repeatedly by guys like Friedman and McKenzie that these teams stay away from big money deals (as in pay structure) like ROR's

It makes sense to me. if you're tight for cash, the last thing you need is to add a guy who is due one massive cheque on july instead 15 or so over the course of one year.
