His first two years in college were at wing, played center this year and before college.

Sutter is having a pretty phenomenal year defensively as the 3c. Hard to see considering just how bad this team is (similar to Tanev). Taking him out of C would be a mistake IMO.

Its funny i was just thinking yesterday it feels like its been months since anyone here complained about Sutter. In a disaster of a season he hasn't drawn too much criticism

I wonder if Green knows that

He told Gaudette today he would be playing center

That Horvat guy started as a C as well and he isn't a complete bust

he hasn't produced much offensively, but he's a steady presence on a shaky (being nice) team

Some have trouble seperating the contract from the player. He is a fine player that happens to be overpaid. His contract doesn't make him useless.

He was paid to be our 2C while Horvat developed, Horvat exceeded all expectations and it's time to get rid of Sutter in the off-season. He may be a good shutdown center, but we're starting to get overloaded with Cs and if Gaudette isn't ready, you can find a cheap fill-in UFA to handle the load for a year or two while Gaudette gets his feet wet in Utica.

EP will likely be 175 and he has been surviving physically in a mens league for 2 years. If he is skilled enough his size won't be an issue. I could continue to list all of the players under 180 pounds that are suceeding the league right now but I am too lazy. Hint, there are lots of them.

The team has 3 under contract for next year in the entire organization. One kid who might be a winger, a pair of sucky players who i suppose can take faceoffs when they aren't wingers and Henrik who might retire.

That is not overloaded.

Scoring centers that start on the wing stay on the wing. Like Granlund, Kessel, Miller, Hayes, Rakell, Keller, Domi, Reinhart, Galchenyuk, Bennet, Aho, and the list goes on for basically ever.

Coaches are too risk averse to live with the growing pains. Green, in a rebuilding year, still benches kids for turnovers trying to make a play for veterans who chip it off the glass.

Not everyone is Tyler Seguin and even then, Seguin's game as a "center" isn't terrific in the traditional sense which is why he regularly lines up on the wings and Benn and Spezza take C for him and Eakin used to regularly as well.

I believe Green will give EP more opportunities than Goblin. His treatment of a blue chip prospect should be a lot different. Virtanen got benched because he is an idiot. Perhaps he plays the first couple of months on the wing and then is moved over. I don't think it's a huge issue.

Do you believe EP is ready for what it takes to be a C? I believe Gaudette is much further along on how to play the position.

from all accounts EP is pretty solid defensively. He isn't a floater like Goblin.

I not worried about the position he'll play, I'm more worried about his weight.

So solid defensively he played the wing in sub-AHL quality league and then will step into the NHL and be a good center for a detail orientated coach.

Russian hockey inherently doesn’t produce character players who bust their can all over the ice. Ballerinas not floaters 😂😂

He excelled at center and wing in SHL and was the league MVP. I have no idea if he will step in at center or the wing. Ask me again after a few preseason games.

Playing C is & always has been about the details. Wingers are failed C’s or never were going to be one. Many drafted C’s end up as wingers for that very reason.
