Buying out Moulson just lets everyone move on. It's a small cap savings. Retirement would mean a cap recapture penalty. Not a big deal, but like you said, it's probably not going there anyways.

I don't think they can buyout Bogo. The injury prevents it.

- Lunaion

Bogo would be healthy by the summer though, they could buy him out then. I think there are 2 different summer buyout windows.

If they bought someone out, I'd prefer it be someone with more than 1 year left

Edit: sidenote, when Luongo retires, if he retires before the end of his contract (he would be 42), Vancouver will have an $8 mil cap recapture penalty

Last I heard was that he 'should' be ready for the start of camp. That would be later than the normal buyout window. The only other buyout I know of has a tie in to arbitration. Didn't check the specifics, rare to see an actual arb ruling.

Ehrhoff retired today.
He'll get $857,143 a year for a decade from the Sabres...

Reminds me of Bobby Bonilla. The Mets owe him over a million a year for close to 20 more years.

Taco I respect you I'm just pointing out that Casey had all the power he probably put in his contract that he wants to get paid his full amount by playing with us

Of course playing in the NHL is going to help him and going to Worlds

And we really did not have the power to say no with the way college free agents have been happening I don't think he was going to risk that he said sure take the money and burn the year

- gerbe75pts

That's not now that works. He gets paid a prorated rate based on how many days/games are left. Which is still like $75K. Not a bad chunk of change.

Nobody is taking that contract. Thats the problem.
That lw depth is really poopty right there.

Even if you put Nolan on the left wing with Eichel and Svech/Z that line will produce a ton of goals. Mitts and Reinhart can carry the mail on the second line. ROR and Okposo can produce enough on the third line to make it respectable. Fourth line plays sparingly in an energy line role.

McDermott: "League is a drop-back league." Said the ability of a QB to drop back and throw is important, something he's committed to." #Bills

Lost in all this draft lottery and mittelstadt talk is how big a deal the goaltending search is.

might be easier putting mittelstadt at lw with jack, ror and erod as centers....leave Wilson up with ror and try to find a home in the top six for okposo....Nolan will be lucky to be on the roster next season

One of the problems with Ullmark in Buffalo, is that there's no Ullmark in Rochester (if/when needed). Some moves needed in goal for sure.

ullmark and a vet...wouldn't be surprised if they gave Johnson a long look...at a smaller salary

agreed. you need at minimum

a fringe starter for the big club

an AHL vet for Roch or early 20's goaltender with high-ish upside (aka ullmark 2.0)

Sucks that JvR & Carlson are having such good seasons
They’d have been nice additions

problem is I don't think either one is capable of giving more than 30 or so quality starts. Too early for Linus imo
