technically you'd go to the local holding center until your arraignment. Then most likely denied bail and sent to the bars at a longer term holding center (these are the worst places) until they can arrange to send you out to a long term prison. - washedup20
If you get arrested in Erie county it's straight to the holding center downtown for the vast majority of people, it is one of the worst jails in the country. They won't let the feds in to investigate the fact that a ton of people kill themselves. Lice is rampant, ringworm, infestations of mice, rats and roaches. I believe they shot some scenes for Midnight Express there

I personally think that Grabner should be a priority for us in free agency. Faster than fast and won’t be too expensive although I could be wrong. If we show interest right out of the gate ,before the big fish sign, with a competitive offer in the 4-4.5M range for 3-4 years I think that’s reasonable. - Pegullaville

At this rate I would think the only way he isn’t resigned is if he doesn’t want to be there. I’m sure Sharks would love to have him long term he’s perfect for them - Pegullaville
Sure, but they'll work out an extension and then wait until 12:01 free agency day to sign the contract. |

He’s a one year/two year max term.
He’ll also be 31 when the season starts. |

Thankfully I've never been myself, but I know a few people who have and even if half the poop they say is true it's awful. And the worst part is it's not a prison. A lot of the people there are pre-trial, or serving very short(week, 10 days) sentences for stupid poop like drunk and disorderly, these are not hardened criminals and most haven't been convicted of anything, and they're still treated like that.
That ain't right. |

I used to work there, the Feds investigate what they want, nothing stopping them.
People kill themselves because they choose to do so, you can't watch everyone all the time. As for the infestations, well... can't say I saw rats too often, but in the pipe rooms I'm sure they might be lurking. |

The holding center is a max security prison, it holds murders, rapist, child molesters, arsonists, gangbangers, drug dealers, and the criminally insane. They also hold inmates who belong to the feds such as U.S. Marshalls. The inmates are not abused or mistreated. Things might have happened in the past, but not anymore, and hasn't in a long time.

The Justice Department began its investigation into problems at the Erie County jail in 2007, but local officials denied its experts unfettered access to the facility and failed to make improvements voluntarily, court records show. Stymied, the department sued the county last September, alleging it had an “inability to supervise inmates, identify inmates at risk for suicide, correct deficiencies in cells that facilitate suicide attempts, and prevent likely suicide attempts.”

From what I've heard most, if not all, of the suicides are junkies going through withdrawal.
Sure, people "choose" to kill themselves, but suicide is not he act of a sound or rational mind. |

its gross and the first night in they put you in the "bars" section which is an old cellblock, and some guys are long term there. that place is really, i mean really f**ked up. I had the vent in my room and when the bars opened so you could walk up and down your ally, this guy stormed into my cell and dove under my bed to start sex talking the girls in the jail the floor beneath us.
the next morning they assess you and then put you in catagories. It was my first time so they put me in catagory 1 and transferred me to the dorms. The guard walking me up there told me to "get used to this, we make sure to keep you come back"
Once they put me up in the dorm it was like a hotel compared to the bars. I was out in 4 days but it felt like a year. |

The Justice Department went on a tour under Eric Holder suing every prison in the country that they didn't like. They tried to make the prisons play patty cake with the inmates, the regulations are ridiculous now. I know you may think you have a handle on what it's like in there, but you don't. Until you've spent real time there and see what takes place and the huge amount of chit the deputies go through each and every shift, you don't know. |
