Again, how? If these kids have a good camp/preseason. Waive Pouliot.

We’ve seen 0 NHL games from some of these kids, and Pu, Oloffson etc haven’t even seen the AHL yet.

I couldn’t care less if I ever see Pouliot again. But he at least is an NHL’er

- sbroads24

Then stop arguing to have “him” here

U still haven’t answered what VALUE he brings to us

I clearly stated what value playing young guys brings

If we were close to being a playoffs team,
that’s one thing... but we aren’t...
so our moves should be designed for what best for us going forward

Btw...
Bailey is on pace for more goals this season in less minutes than Pouliot
Why do we need to wait till preseason to make a decision when we already are seeing some kids performing well enough to deserve a roster spot?

Also...
signing Vets with the intention of waiving them if young kids perform well in preseason is bad practice
And frankly, not realistic
No team is gonna act like that

Pouliot signed a 1 year 1 mil deal. Guys like that get waived all the time.

1 more goal and Kane gets his 30
- gerbe75pts

And we traded him for....

O’Regan has looked pretty good since coming over
Hopefully he’ll work out
Won’t know for a couple years

The draft pick?
Likely to take even longer to find out

But they also get put into the lineup bc they’re Vets
Even though what’s best for the team is to play the kids

Still waiting for what value a “Pouliot” brings?

Don’t u always talk about us needing more difference makers?
Hard for us to find out if any of these young guys can be if they’re stuck in the press box, or not getting minutes bc we are giving icetime to average players who do nothing to move this team forward

Sure, but they'll work out an extension and then wait until 12:01 free agency day to sign the contract.
- sskkoo1

So?
Are there stipulations that he has to sign by a certain day?
I don’t remember hearing that

my biggest issue with this team

so many of them under performed

the first 12 games or so it was eichel, kane, pommer and that's it

after that it was jack gripping his stick tight on an island alone

then skunk turns it on after the first of the year

but all in all more often then not, the 19 guys on the ice severely under performed

if nothing else

purge the larssons, girgens, bogos, beaulieus, pouliots from the roster

don't reward the okposos, pommers with extra ice time based on experience

cut risto and ror's ice time down 15 %

those things alone make us a much better team come fall

There's like 19 guys that suited up for Buffalo this season that I could do without ever seeing suit up again for this team. That's like 18 too many.

Time to watch the Canucks
- gerbe75pts

Well i didn’t see that coming!

Vancouver is now 5pts ahead of us
I’d say they’re out of reach
They were the team i was most worried about too

Arizona & Ottawa still 3pts ahead
I’d say that 1 more win from each of them should put us in the clear

I don’t see us winning 3 more games

The #Cowboys will cut Dez Bryant, after the draft, but make no mistake — they will cut him

Sign him after we draft Rosen

- gerbe75pts

Can we fit Dez?
Beane basically said we were done signing free agents bc we used up all our $$$

Can't afford him.

He's due 16.5 mil this year.

He's gonna want at least that.

I think the only reason Buffalo added guys like Pouliot, Nolan, Josefson, etc, was so they could keep guys like Bailey, Baptiste, Smith, Ghule, etc. in the AHL for as long as they could. There is a reason those guys only got 1 or 2 year contracts. They were stopgap players. With these young guys making the jump next year and some of them needing to stay with the Sabres, there isn't any need to add those type of stopgap players. We are in a position now that we can cycle in and out our own players the next few years with what we have in the AHL now and the guys coming over next year. We already have enough "Veterans" (most either aren't that great, are on bad contracts, or both) but we have enough of them that our team will not be made up of just kids.

If we keep drafting well and signing young college players with promise the Sabres can continue to cycle in their own talent and when it is time to go for the cup grab a guy or two who will put us over the top. Until then I don't really see a need for Buffalo to go out and sign any marginal NHLers to 1 year contracts, and I think this was Bott's plan all along which is why even guys like Larson and Girgs only got 2 year contracts, because hopefully by the time their contract is up (I'd prefer trading them) there will be guys ready to take their place.

Staal with 40 goals I can’t believe he turned his game around that much he was useless in Carolina
- gerbe75pts

Funny what happens when you’re on a team with good players around you instead of trying to carry the weight on your own

Just look at how the reverse is happening in Chicago

13 points in his last 10.

He should get a serious look from Buffalo in all honesty.

He won't but he should.

He on Jack or Casey's wing would be a good thing for them and him.

Won't cost more than 3-4 on a one yr deal.

- dadeadhead

I thought we wanted to get faster though?

Also,
Vanek likely to sign with a legit playoff team I’d think
