Rather use the money to take a run at JT or jVR - gerbe75pts
JT is a pipe dream and JVR is going to be 29 and get a 7 yr deal.
You just love wasting other peoples money. |

No thanks. - dadeadhead
With the injuries he's had I doubt he'll get a four-year deal I'll probably get a 2-year or maybe 3 if the team is really desperate
Your looking at giving up a second round pick if you poach the Washington backup no thank you .
Only backup I'm going to do that for is Saros |

So wait just because jvr is 29 he's not going to be good?
That's logical |

So Grubauer's a no because it'll cost you something but your big plan is sign a 29 year old with an injury history?
- dadeadhead
He won't cost anything yes.. and he's a 50/50 goaltender
Until our franchise goaltender is ready |

Or you have another high cap hit player on a long term deal, at an age where when they're ready (hopefully) hampers the cap, oh and you'll have to pay all these high draft picks that they'll have accumulated.
We've seen this model before and it doesn't work.
This team is not in a position to pay JVR the money and term he'll command.
This is what logical critical thinking looks like. |

He's a sniper we haven't had that an organization since vanek ..
If the cap hit is good you never know he might sign a very reasonable deal

7 yrs 7-8 mil
If this season is any indication with only having 18a, he's on the Nash trajectory.
Honestly I'd rather pay Vanek 2-3 mil for a year or two and put him on Eichel's wing.
He's seemed to keep up with whomever he's played with and has a shot at a 60 pt season(while only playing 14 mins a night).
The last thing this team needs right now is another boat anchor cap wise. Plus what, is Botts building team USA? What's the record for most US born players to win a cup? This team has 6 on it as of now and could potentially have 9, 10, or 11 next year(if they added JVR). |

Oh I'm well aware and both times should've been a yes.
He's been on one of the better deals the past 2 yrs for what he produces.
Pouliot for $1 mil or Vanek for $2 mil
Botts and Murray fvcked up on that one.
.713 ppg over the last 2 seasons and has made 4.6 mil. |

He doesn’t fit the North-South speed type of game at his age. Nor does he help with the stealth tank that I think this season was meant to be. Botts could have signed a lot more then minor leaguers and pouliot this season. Dahlin/Svech/Z was the plan all along.

I have 2 Vanek jerseys, so I love the player, but:
Vanek can't play 20 minutes a night with Eichel, and your top 6 wings (Reinhart, Vanek and Okposo) would be slwer than molasses |

I didn't mind the Pouliot signing as I figured you'd get 20-25 points for that mil. |

And Vanek has more points than both.
He's have been fine on Eichels wing plus how many times is Eichel on the ice well after his linemates are on the bench? |

True. I would look to get faster in the top 6. If he were slotted in as Mittelstadt's winger, it would work better imo
?-Eichel-Okposo
?-Ror-Reinhart
Vanek-Mittelstadt-Baptiste
Wilson-Erod-Pominville
That's assuming they shed the dead weight currently inhabiting the bottom 6 |

Dubby was drafted by Edmonton...............
Ellis was drafted by Dallas.............
Chris Mason was drafted by NJ................
Vokoun was drafted by Montreal.................
Hutton was an unsigned UFA by Philidelphia..........
They did draft Brian Finley 5th overall though. |

[quote=gerbe75pts]
Chris Mason drafted in 1995 claimed off waivers by Nashville in 2003 spent forever in their minor systen so I guess I'll give you that one.
Vokoun was drafted in 1995 spent 2 years in Montreal's system (AHL) gets claimed in the expansion draft starts right away. Again no they didn't.
Hutton signed by Philly in 2010 spends time in the AHL for Philly, SJ, and CHI. Get signed as a UFA by Nashville in 2013(never spends time in their farm system)........ Again wrong.
Those early am tire flips are killing the oxygen to your brain.
