I still can't believe that people think that signing UFA's to big money long-term with NTC's for "only money" is a low-risk thing to do.
Cap space is an asset, just like a draft pick. |

Analytics are becoming a prominent part of contractual deals.
Look at all the baseball players that were shunned through MLB free agency.
Gm;s are becoming more and more scared of long term contracts because the numbers suggest a majority of long term deals come back to absolutely bite you in the @ss.
I think the analytics side of the game has become more and more of deturant for Gm's to throw their money around the way they used to. |

No doubt, GM’s are slowly but surely starting to learn from history.
I don’t follow baseball much, but I read an article about how players/agents were upset with teams this winter for not throwing around money like they usually do.
Same thing in the NFL to a lesser degree. Teams are studying to see which positions they can get away with not spending as much money on. Safeties are struggling to get paid. |

Loui is a good contract to trade . The teams cost would be 4 . 2 . 1 .and 1 if Canucks kept half the salary |

This whole salary-cap situation was negotiated, because of idiot gm's giving out massive contracts, yet nothing has changed.
These owners are bigger idiots by allowing the gm's to do this poop. |

A Good Owner would have less to do with the structure of the team rather than have more to do with it. IMO, FA should only be writing cheques to players, and deciding whether or not Linden and Benning get extensions, or get fired, and leave the day to day operations in the hands of the people who are supposed to know how to handle them. |

Who ever said that? I only see a UFA as a free player & it should be for need. Problem is GM’s rarely get it right. |

Fair enough.
My point was that the owners locked players out, in order to get the salary cap. Their big concern was the sky-rocketing contracts being given out by their employees.
They need to hold their people accountable for these contracts. |

In the case of LE the money was there for him as a UFA but like you mentioned the term & NMC/NTC is the mistake |

You should see a 4 way stop in Quesnel. The people going straight will not go at the same time.... when you do it,,,, they throw their hands up in disgust. Takes forever to get anywhere. People riding their brakes up to green lights til it turns yellow and leaves you at a red. Idiots doing 30 in a school zone 8pm on a Sunday. I'm going to rip someones arms and legs off soon.
