This is from The Bob

So they’ve got five picks in the first two rounds – that’s almost too many. And you say, ‘Well, that’s crazy. They’re a rebuilding hockey team. The more young guys the better you can get.’

“Yeah, to a point. And what I believe is the case is that Jeff Gorton, the general manager, will look at his opportunities. Is there a chance to package up some of those draft picks – one or two or three of the first-round picks- and move much higher in the draft. Or a first-round pick and second-round pick and try and move up in the draft.”

McKenzie adds that they won’t be looking for guys 26 to 28 years old, but if they could add someone 21 to 23 years old, they would be interested.

Because he's making too much money for a guy who sucks at offence but is good defensively.
- LeftCoaster

I’m not sure how anyone is qualified to make that statement, I hear this in all walks of life. How many here think you make way to much money for what you do.

And please don’t give the statement that this is what the market pays for a person with your skill set, because that’s BS, just like athletes salaries.

I was looking at that . They are currently 10 th we are 4 th . I would do our first for all three first round picks but not our first for theirs and one more. It would need to be all three

He was traded for Bonino (who everyone complained about , myself included) I think we swapped a 3 rd for a fourth?

I think he and Dorsett had good chemistry and I think him and Archibald work good together.

I don't have a problem with his salary seeing I rank him currently in the top 5 Canucks forwards

- VANTEL

I don't, and he shouldn't be, that's one of the problems. The fact that he is shows just how little depth we have and how much work JB (or whoever eventually replaces him) has to do to fix it.

Bonino for Sutter was essentially a lateral move trading offensive upside but defensive liability for defensive asset but offensive liability. It's time to move on, Gaudette will be fine in his role.

My top 5 forwards:

1) Boeser
2) Bo
3) D. Sedin
4) H. Sedin
5) Baertschi (before injuries)

I have Sutter ahead of Sven but it is a matter of opinion

You are right about the talent level and when Sutter gets better players to play with I am sure his numbers will go up also.

I believe things will get pretty interesting, on the trade front, throughout the league, after April 28th until the draft.
Hope we manage to get in on some of the action.

expensive ask, but i actually agree that you shouldn't move it for much less than all 3 in the current scenario.

but benning would throw-in your 2nd.

10 goals this year 17 goals last year approx 35 points both years. Do you think your expectations on a third line center might be set a little high?

They are good numbers for a team that struggles to score

- VANTEL

No....I'm more pissed off with how Benning portrayed him as a "foundational player" when everyone and their dog knew he was a bottom six forward. That's not Sutter's fault though, Benning set him up to fail.

I'm more disappointed in how Bennng constructed a team and told everyone it was a competitive one, Sutter included, we all know that was a crock of poop!!

In the end it's not really about Sutter, it's about his contract and why the (frank) they went out and got him in the first place.

I wouldn't throw in the second rd pick if you are serious. The top 4 picks are tier 1 and 1 A type players

Number 10 pick would be borderline B/B- tier prospects .

25 -31 will be C/C- tier prospects

I would gladly keep my top 5 pick so if they want to trade they better have a strong offer otherwise I keep my NHL ready pick

4 & 35 for 10, 29 & 30 actually seems fair to me.

4 for 10, 29 & 30 is a rags paying a pretty big premium imo.

The draft looks like a clear #1, a very good 2-5 and a good (but drop-off) group at 6-10.

So it seems like its right to ask for the premium.

But Benning loves to throw in 2nds. So I wouldn’t put it past him. Probably better off just holding on to your pick.

Out of respect for Henrik I think Sutter has surpassed Hank on the depth charts but we will save that discussion for another day.

Sutter steps up to the mic and tells the media screw off we are not tanking. Leadership. I have heard by many media that he is a leader in the room. He tackles all the other teams top lines , he puts up decent numbers, I think he gives Benning most of what JB was expecting from him.

Bonino is making 4.1 mil very similar numbers.

Depending on where picks end up, they would have to consider 2 of the 1sts and the Rangers 2nd.

I'm excited to see our future third line center play tonight, if that's any consolation? #Gaudette

They traded for him to be the 2nd line centre or so I heard on the radio yesterday.

Perhaps what he meant was that compared to similar players around the league his salary s high. Like buying a car using auto-trader, they provide a handy graph showing the average selling price of similar vehicles. You may choose to buy a certain vehicle even if it’s “over priced” based on other considerations

I really wouldn't . You are basically could be asking for a Cody Hodgson a Nick Jensen and a Brendan Gaunce for a Elias Pettersson

But it could also be a Barzal a Boeser for a OJ

And for the record, even if Sutter got all Henrik's offensive zone starts and PP time, I still don't think he'd crack 50 points. He's not creative with the puck, he has no vision to distribute the puck like Henrik and therefore doesn't make anyone around him a better player. So even a stale old Hank at 38 is still a more valuable player than Sutter.

In a top six role.
