Serious question. Would you do Crawford for Elliot? Crawford has two years left at $6mil per. He is 33. Is he better than Elliot? If it was straight up I think I would. IF the Hawks wanted anything in addition I would say no.
- mickel25

Probably. But honestly, Elliott was not the issue at all this year. I think the skaters like playing for him, and that counts.

Elliott definitely works for this locker room, unlike Mason.

agreed and honestly, even with all of our complaining the Flyers have played well defensively. We complain about the wonder twins (gudas/mannning) but overall as a team they dont make anymore mistakes than most teams...

now if they are a cup contender, well lets not go there

plus, his face (frank)ing sucks.

I have this dream where Marchand takes a dive and his nose is sliced off by a dman’s skate. The nose flies into the crowd and a young-boy catches it. First excited, then overwhelmed by the loud surrounding chants of “throw it back, throw it back, throw it back. The boy throws it back, but it is soon intercepted by a flying JVR

They'll also likely acquire a better asset than they give up in the deal.

Ouch. The Coyote fan isn't going to like to hear that.

For me, scratch Linseman (never saw him play) and add Marc Bureau and Billy Tibbetts.
- jmatchett383

Linseman was Marchand level richard.
Forgot about those other two.

No - too pricey and not significantly better than a healthy Elliot.

I'd rather play the Caps in the 1st round and the Pens in the 2nd. I think we can beat both clubs. Unfortunately, even if it were to unfold that way and we made it to the ECF, I can't see us beating any of the top 3 teams in the Atlantic.

We're legit Cup contenders in 2019-20. Just hope G can still ball in 2 years. That breakaway move was filthy last night. I rewound the video at least 25 times to see how he pulled that off. Oh Captain, my Captain!

Couple thoughts:

1) This looks like the old Matt Read in the lineup. No more of that garbage Read we saw the last 2 seasons. He looks really solid out there.

2) That Patrick goal was executed to perfection by all three forwards. That was a perfect play.

3) Andrew McDonald scored on Mrazek last night, iced the puck at the end of regulation, and failed to clear the zone in the last 10 seconds.... and I still think he's been our 3rd best D-man this year. This is easily the best season he's ever played for the Flyers and possibly the best season of his career (didn't follow him with NYI).

Nope, not at all. What I was clearly saying is that it wasn't Lehtera's fault.

I'll elaborate further. It wasn't MacDonald's fault, it wasn't Manning's fault, it wasn't Mzarek's fault and most of all it wasn't Hakstol's fault. It was Wayne Simmonds fault. A routine chip out into center ice and the game is over! That simple.

- MJL

Simmonds making the most egregious error doesn't absolve the other players on the ice for their poor play that followed it and in the case of MacDonald's unnecessary icing, preceded it. Nor it does it excuse Hakstol putting Lehtera, Filppula, Simmonds, Manning on the ice with MacDonald to close out a game with 40-50 seconds left. The only thing they are reliable at as a group, is giving up a lot of shot attempts.

Nope. Much like when Ulf Samuelsson came here, I hated him.
- jmatchett383

Yup Samuelsson and Marc Bureau were 2 guys I hated even after they came to the Flyers.

I just watched the replay again, once Simmonds turned it over, lethera went for the puck but there was also a Bruin there, who appeared to get there just before lethera. Then the puck was pushed forward and AMAC threw it off Lethera, it was knocked to Manning who promptly passed it go Bergeron.

Simmonds owns this one for sure but 3 players could have bailed him out and failed, the least of the 3 was lethera, AMAC could have done better and so could have Manning.

- wcorvette

Though the play definitely was a three act comedy, everyone would agree most egregious of the skaters was Simmonds who had both time and space to clear but chose the wrong time to try and get creative.

Read wasn't garbage last year. He was an effective bottom 6 forward by every metric.

This year they tried to replace him with Leier and Lehtera and it failed miserably, particularly on the PK.

Scottie Upshall has a lacerated kidney. That sounds unpleasant.

I'm always surprised to hear that he's still in the league.

I remember hearing Forsberg lacerated his spleen I was like that can't be good.
