I still can't believe Chicago swapped Panarin for Saad. What a devastating miscalculation. - Pixote Andolini

That was an interesting move. Speaking of Panarin, he uploaded a very cool video playing with his dog the other day on instagram If anyone needs a Monday-pick-me-up that’s legal. |

Simmonds making the most egregious error doesn't absolve the other players on the ice for their poor play that followed it and in the case of MacDonald's unnecessary icing, preceded it. Nor it does it excuse Hakstol putting Lehtera, Filppula, Simmonds, Manning on the ice with MacDonald to close out a game with 40-50 seconds left. The only thing they are reliable at as a group, is giving up a lot of shot attempts. - Feanor
I disagree. Once the puck is passed up to Simmonds and he fails to make a routine clear, it becomes a fire drill. Both MacDonald and Manning are just trying to clear the puck and were both unfortunate in the result. Both were bang-bang plays. Blaming the coach for putting out the players when one player, Simmonds failed to make a simple play that would've ended the game, is flat out absurd.

At least Marchand was fined $5000. I imagine it would be $10,000 and a sternly worded reprimand if he broke MacDonalds face. |

My Hart Trophy thoughts:
1. Hall (if they make the playoffs)
2. MacKinnon (if they make the playoffs)
3. Kopitar (if they make the playoffs)
4. Giroux
Obviously, I am one of those poeple who think you have to make the playoffs |

And I'd agree, although I'd switch Hall with MacKinnon. But man, Hall is really damn good. |

nope in the tweet it specifically says that 5k is the max. so even Mac's face breaking is only worth 5k |

One win or one Florida loss should do it. |

I think MacKinnon is a better player, but I think Hall is doing more for his team.
@Baxter -- we were talking earlier in the year about the 2013 draft. I said I had MacKinnon at 1, but Seth Jones was very close. I think MacKinnon has pulled away, at least for this season. |

I still find it utterly hilarious every time the Hall trade is discussed by my Oiler peers. |

It's definitely close for me. They've both put their teams on their backs.
Sadly, we'll all be pissed when it goes to either McDavid or Kucherov. |

I think both should, but won't. But I'll be glad as long as Brent Burns doesn't win it. |

It's a done deal. I think at this point it's more likely we finish in second in the Metro than out of the playoffs. |

My thoughts on the Hart trophy race is that it should go to a player who made decent teams better. Kucherov is definitely deserving but he plays on a stacked team. I see McKinnon, Hall, and Giroux as players who are the most valuable to their teams. |

It will be really regrettable if either Hall or MacKinnon doesn't win, if their teams make it to the postseason. I mean, we all see it. Those teams are bsttling Arizona and Buffalo without them |
