You're suggesting that Terry does Bott's job. Why bother hiring a GM?

The GM, coach and his crew lay out the facts. They give their collective verdict, and ultimately, yes, Terry signs off on contracts and trades. But to say Terry just steps in and says you need to do x with player y is ludicrous.

Not for this team. I don't know how many times during pressers and interviews they all state (Sabres and Bills) about how they all work together and Terry has the final say. They bring it to him for his signature, but 99% of the work is done by the GM and coach.

But I know you wear a tin hat more often than not, so I'm sure you're in the "Terry wanted Kane gone, Botts didn't so Botts was forced to trade him" category.

This statement and the implication you made before are wildly different.

I like Bott's draft this past year.. little curious about the Laaksonen pick.. but Middlingstat, UPL, Bryson, Davidsson and even Weissbach look promising. Weissbach had 26 points in 34 games with a very bad Wisconsin team this year as a freshman.

I remember reading (or maybe hearing) an interview where Botts said they didn’t wanna take a chance on him not making it to the 7th round, and we had no 5th or 6th round pick
So they basically just decided to “reach” on Laaksonen so they could be sure they’d get BOTH guys

Or something like that
