They should if they can. Karlsson ain’t re-signing there

I personally would not go after Karlsson . The price would be too high to trade. Keep your top draft pick . Go after OEL or Karlsson after their current contract expires

Kane is different I have mixed feelings . It would cost 7.5 x 7

I think it'd be around 6 x 6.5 just because i can see some teams completely ignoring him because of his rep, part of the reason why the price to acquire him at the tdl was more reasonable than first thought

I wouldn't go after Karlsson either.
I'm not sure he'll recover from that surgery to warrant salary demands.

A lot of pro athletes say that it takes more than a full year to properly recover from injuries as serious as the one he had, I think he's better next year than he was this year for sure. But I do wonder if he'll ever be as dominant as he was the past 2-3 years before this one. Even if he's not, still a damn good player.

I know everyone expects SJS to resign him, but i wonder if they have the space as they have a few RFA's to sign as well, even with Jumbo Joe coming off the books, potentially.

Tomas Hertl and Chris Tierney should get substantial raises.

Plus they give up a higher pick if they re-sign him. I think he makes it to UFA and goes to the highe$t bidder.

He's gonna get weak if he takes less money to stay in SJ...

Thanks Carol

Two greatest Canucks (so far)

Now the rebuild really begins, and even though everyone asks where the goals will come from, I feel like the team will improve next season (in the standings), even if only a little.

So this Utica ATO contract situation should leave him protected for the Seattle expansion draft, no?

7x7 would do it IMO 6.5x7 be nice
Open market that is the max if anyone thinks he is trouble. Maybe we even squeeze some hometown discount. Top line at home would be apoealing with the other kids ec.

I realize now is not the time for management to put any pressure on Bo but hearing JB and TL talk about leaning on Sutter and Eriksson for their leadership qualities made me cringe.

Nooooo, Sedins were the reason i started to love hockey as someone outside NA. They will be missed, great and classy players.

Whether dominant or not we do know he can carry a team. We could use a star if the price can be paid. Eating the Ryan contract could help us get in sniffing distance. 4yrs left @$7.25m takes us out of signing Kane. Drops the return to the Sens a ton.

Tanev/Sven/Hutton/2nd/3rd for EK/Ryan

Oh pulleez.
They're the vets on the team, they should be taking the heat and leading by example.
i'd much rather it be on them than on Brock, OJ and Pettersson.
let the kids play and the vets lead.

I think the billboards would get a lot more vitriolic if the GM moved their captain and Norris winner Karlson for an oft injured top pair Dman, a 2nd line winger and a 6-7 Dman with a couple picks...even with Bobby Ryan thrown in.

But hey, if Ottawa would do that deal, i'd be all over it.

Yeah it was a pretty dumb offer . You would pay that alone fore his hockey stick . Sens want Dahlin or 2 firsts a top 6 guy and a prospect.

Good points. Its Ryan who is the big anchor & hard to say what it takes to eat that $7.25m

Ryan 31yrs old $7.25m/4yrs
Baertschi 25yrs old $2.5-3m rfa?

Tanev/2nd/3rd for EK looks not horrible eating $4m+ for Ryan given Svens cost. Other teams eg Nashville have more assets but idk who they offload? If Ottawa wants cap floor & no anchors i’m curious to who trades with them.
