I like what Ferraro said the other week:
"They should hide the phone from JB on July 1st."
No to big contracts right now. Hoard cap space. No to Kane. No to Karlsson.

Nothing wrong with JB’s cap management.
Mountain made out of mole hill.
Explain what cap problems he has created?
Project into the future when we can compete.

Sorry to hear about the upcoming retirement of your superstars.
They were truly a treat to watch.
I can't think of many more team who had 2 guys punch out 1000+ pts at the same time.
Good luck in finding some kids to fill the void.
Bosser and Horvat seem like a good start. |

It’s funny, when the Oilers started locking up their first overall/first round picks to $6m aav contracts, with RFA years still remaining I thought they were crazy. Now those deals look like bargains. |

Spending to the cap while being one of the 3 worst teams in the league for the past 3 seasons.. Is that clear enough for you? |

Everyone's definition of a problem will differ. You clearly dont think the use of cap space has been an issue so far, where as others feel like opportunities were squandered. Given how tight they have been to the cap, I have been disappointed they couldnt even discuss trades that took bad contracts because they had no room, especially around the expansion draft. Its as VANTEL has said, they have spent to the cap every year and got bottom finishes of it, very inefficient
Now people can say its not bad, because there are definitely teams with worse situations (like Detroit), but it certainly has not been utilized in the best possible way IMO. Freeing $14 million makes some earlier contracts easier to swallow again, but odds are they try to speed up the rebuild and make a splash |

Not including his 15 points in 19 playoff games last year, his production the last 2 years has been very similar to Loui's |

Taylor Hall at $6m is great value, Eberle and RNH IMO are not great but solid |

The point I was (trying) to make was paying a premium for RFA years. The bridge deal for Subban in Montreal etc. Signing the long, big money deal when players can’t negotiate NTC. Obviously there is risk there too, not every player improves. |

I agree, I liked the Horvat deal for the same reason. I hope that the rumours of Boeser being locked up this summer are true, much easier to manage your team's cap structure by establishing your best player at the top, and doing so while contracts continue to rise |

The key to success for any business is cost certainty. It makes a huge difference when you go to set your priorities for the next fiscal year. |
