I hope that crap doesn't become a trend to bring in retired players at the end of the year. Another loophole that needs to be addressed.
With the Sedins in the lineup we are a bottom five club. With no Sedins next year if we trend up to 20-25 spot I will call that a win. So many things need to be addressed to make this club even minutely close to a WC team. - LordHumungous

I fell asleep for the shootout but seeing the nice tribute by both the fans and the Vegas player. - LeftCoaster
Very classy move by the Vegas players to stay back and shake hands.
How about Sportsnet though leaving the Blue Jays game on 15min into the Nucks game??
My god that network is a joke!! |

Nah . Let the Sedins go out wearing the C and A .Why take it away from them . Hank can hand Bo the C next year in a press conference - VANTEL
Handing the C to horvat during the last home game would be so cheesy. I like your idea of doing off ice next season. |

Meh, I like the idea (mentioned it earlier) of just having 3 A's next year. No need to thrust Bo into that void straight away. Read this on the province this morning, was pretty good:
A quick story about the Sedins: Last summer, I was fortunate enough to sit down with them in Rogers Arena for an hour. They both could tell I was nervous, so they started asking me about my favourite Canucks memories, where I grew up and which jerseys I owned.
I told them about how I met them when I was nine in Park Royal. How I refused to get either of their jerseys because I couldn’t choose who I liked more. How I cried myself to sleep in a red and black Markus Naslund jersey after they lost Game 7 to Minnesota in 2003.
They wanted to know about me — my life as a Vancouverite — before we had to speak about them. Their humility, their passion for the city and their love of the sport was so strong, it was unlike anything I had ever seen or heard.
The story I remember the most, which didn’t make it into their piece, was one about Naslund. They said, when the team would go through a rough patch and have a really poor game, the first person to face the media — every single bad night — was Markus.
He would answer every question and would never let the Sedins, or any of the young guys, take the heat. Then, when they played well (and even on nights when Markus was exceptional), he would let the young guys speak with the media and he would sit back.
When I spoke to them about this year and how tough it might be, they used the same cliches we’ve heard before: Anything can happen, etc. But they told that story about Markus a few minutes before, and it was obvious they knew how important their role was on this year’s team.
There just aren’t other athletes like the Sedins. And there probably never will be. I’m so thankful to have watched them up close as I grew up, and from afar these past few years. Speaking to them that day was 60 of the best minutes of my life. I will miss them a lot.
I don't think putting Bo in that position right away will be beneficial to him or the team. Let them collectively face the media, then put him on that in a year or two. |

Pre-game ceremony (on ice) before the first home game, just like the way Henrik received it. |

Wearing the C doesnt do much in the room, everyone knows who the leaders are whether they have a letter on their jersey or not. But I agree that the responsibility to the media can be an unnecessary distraction, Luongo went through the same thing as captain before finally giving it up |

I didn't hear that. I just heard him talk about free agency on July 1st, how he wants to be smart with money, and make sure the free agents can mentor the kids. |

That was the interview.
Cant remember when he stated that. Could've been at the begining...maybe the middle...or the end.

It’s been said that players & coaches don’t tank, but putting the Sedins out there for the shootout said “we played a good enough game that we can let the other team have the extra point” |

I think that is very different, as he couldn’t really be “the captain”, being a goalie. Plenty of younger, less experienced guys already wearing the C for their teams, and I believe Mr. Horvat is the kind of person that would thrive with the added responsibility, if only to prove doubters wrong. |

Yes it was. However, not everyone gets that channel, we had to add it for $6 a month. Anyway, the Blue Jays are the most important sports franchise in the nation. |

Bo's heading into his 5th season, he's 23 as of tomorrow, he's incredibly mature and well spoken, there's no reason why he cant handle the responsibility of being Captain next year. There's lots of other guys that have been given the C at an earlier age. |

It is a little different being a goalie, but when he gave it up there were several comments that showed what wearing the letter entails:
But the more Luongo tried to explain Monday why he decided to give up the ‘C,’ the more it sounded like the captaincy is a responsibility he’s better off without.
"I want to put my whole focus on goaltending," Luongo said at a news conference. "I wouldn’t say it was a distraction. I think I could put something less on my plate. The less distractions as a goaltender (the better)."
"It may be incompatible with goaltending and the expectations that are placed on a captain in terms of availability and being the spokesman of the team," Gillis said in Penticton, B.C., at a prospects tournament. "It may have been a little too much based on how he likes to prepare and what he likes to do to get ready for the game.
"He tried to meet those expectations as best he could and at the end of the day he felt it wasn’t the best thing for his him, his play and for us."

IMO when you lose 2 guys like Henrik and Daniel to share the media duties with, along with being the main offensive catalyst, it could be a lot adjustments for him right away |

Yeah, i’m not a fan either, but think how you would feel if the Canucks game went long and they cut out to switch over to the start of whatever was programmed to come on, darts, or poker, or baseball... they should have done some split screen stuff or something I guess. |
