Wade Allison

Matthew Strome, I know the skating problems but someone who can find the nets and has his hockey IQ will find a roster spot.

Tanner Laczynski, plays a heavy fast game.

They have players on the roster capable of that. It's not a roster problem. They are coached to play a more reserved style of hockey whereas someone like Lavi wanted the poop stirred just about every game.

Frankly, with how terrible the PK is they can't afford to play loose like that.

- hereticpride

The strategy change by the coach from a 2-1 forecheck to a 1-2 was a pivotal decision that has really worked for the Flyers. The myth that Hakstol wants the Flyers to play a reserved brand of hockey, is just that, a myth.

I'm kidnapping him and chaining him down in my basement if that is even a thought process

The season is on the line tomorrow night. Don't bank on getting help from anyone it's not happening.

Laughton in for Lehtera
Hagg in for Manning
Oduya in for Gudas
Elliott in for Mrazek

Let's see how many of these changes happen tomorrow night with this blind loyal coach. I know Oduya won't even be considered, but Gudas has been absolutely awful pretty much all year.

The 4th line was not the issue on that goal. The mistake was made by the top defense pairing and the Flyers #1 defenseman.
- MJL

Yes it was, however, it would be awesome if we had a 4th line center that could skate a bit to try to get back. yes Barzal would make it tough on anyone but Lehtera wouldn't be playing center if I had my say.

You already know I agree with that, still doesn’t mean I agree with who Hak put out.

Said my son after they scored, they need to slow this down, even take a TO.

BUT THEY GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED

Abul-Kabel plays a pretty heavy game.

Depending on the injury and if he leaves school I thought Allison was close to NHL ready.

Also if they were to trade Simmonds maybe they bring back a younger player that fills that type of game.

They could follow a couple different avenues to get that need if they want.

If you wanted a FA and depending on cost a term you could go with a guy like Maroon. Or an agitating pk type like Roussel

No it wasn't. If Provorov makes the right read, it's a 2 on 2 play with Lehtera coming back as the 3rd defender. A simple play turned into a 2 on 1 on a bad play by a good player.

I don't understand this far into the rebuild/retool whatever you want to call it, how there is still so much dead wood on this roster. I know Hextall has done some really good things, but there are too many guys who simply can't play.

if Elliott is healthy and ready to go then I am all for it. Hagg would be in for one of them for sure and I wouldn't be upset if they try Oduya but I'm leery about Oduya at this point because he hasn't really played in forever. Laughton for Lehtera is a no brainer for me

I believe so. I know Oduya looked bad in the one game he played against the Panthers, but Gudas is terrible. It's one of those he can't be worse situations.

I'm not liking this attitude towards Simmonds. It's reminiscent of how everyone was towards Giroux last year. Sure he's having a down year and has been playing bad lately, he could have some lingering injury that we don't know about. He's never been a defensive cornerstone of the team. I keep hearing no way Hextall resigns him, which is complete nonsense IMO. If the price and term is right Hextall will definitely give him an offer. If he's asking full term and 6m+ let him go but you guys act like he's complete garbage now.

his lack of physical play does make me wonder if we will be hearing about surgery once the season does end for the flyers. Do they have anyone in the pipeline with size who can skate and play heavy? i mean more immediate future....not Ratcliffe future

Some guy, Sammy Moron or some poop. I hear he is okay at ice hockey.

they need something. I don't want to see the days of a Dave brown player but I do want to see more size

Mistake not getting oduya some time. I know he is the 7th D but now that you might need him, you really can’t. There is no getting up to speed right now. Manning and gudas have been bad long enough where Hak could have and should have gotten oduya a game. Let alone the TOI THAT THE WONDER TWINS GET.

No.

He's a guy that could be on the downside of his career and i think a lot of people like Simmonds but are aware that his best days COULD be behind him. Are we sure.....no, but I would rather cash in now on value instead of resigning him to a deal that isn't worth it as he declines.

Injuries don't excuse the bad turnovers in the last two games and lazy backchecks. I agree though that Simmonds shouldn't be just written off and I think if he is traded he will be scoring 30/30 for the team who acquires him next season.

I agree... Hagg and Laughton should be no brainers. The other two are somewhat risky due to rust, and Elliott might not be 100% yet, but there is a large enough sample from those 4 players to know they can't be counted on. Mrazek has had some moments, but he's unreliable at best. Gudas, Manning, and Lehtera aren't regulars on any playoff team in the NHL.

Oduya is a break glass in an emergency player. He shouldn't play unless you absolutely have to use him.

I think she meant "yes it was the defenseman's fault" (she agrees with you there) but she still disagrees with putting the 4th line out there at that point in time.

part of the Flyers system allows for a pinch by a defenceman...in this case Provy....it means that Barzal can't be allowed to beat his man up the ice...in this case the fourth line slowest guy on the team Lehtera. The coach said as much in the after game comments....not the Lehtera part...I added that.

He's not garbage, he's just been playing well below his normal standards. It's not just the defensive play, it's his attitude, or actually his lack of attitude, on the ice. He was always a player who was involved even if he didn't score, and that has completely disappeared this year.

He may be injured, and that's fair, but that doesn't mean he's above criticism. But if he's going to want to cash in big on his last chance, the Flyers are taking a big risk. I'm all for extending him if he wants 5x5, but I think he'll want more and for longer.

Bad pinch coupled with Ghost not really playing off of Beauvillier (I believe that is who made the pass) a little too much were the main causes to the goal but Lehtera really doesn't have the ability to get back.

Saw something post game where Hakstol was fine with the pinch but was more critical of the forwards getting back. I personally wasn't thrilled with the pinch and wish Ghost didn't have that much of a gap allowing beauvillier to get the pass off. As a center i would be critical of myself for not getting back on that play.
