The Flyers need to become an expansion team. - Scoob
first expansion team to win the cup in fact |

If they lose in regulation to the Canes tomorrow, they no longer control their own destiny? Is this true? |

I read somewhere that Mrazek has won 3 times in his last 14 appearances. I honestly don't feel like he's an option anymore for me. - mayorofangrytown
that's, um, not good. he should have kept his red wing pads and white hat. seriously, assuming elliott isn't ready, i'd probably go with lyon, despite what happened in pittsburgh. |

Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Konecny, Provorov, Gostisbehere, Couturier. We have pieces.
Nobody knew where Vegas would be where they are. No expansion team in history as done with they've done but it still possible to turn a team around in less than five years. - SuperSchennBros
what recent expansion team was given the advantage they were? Most expansion teams are given a list of 4th line/minor league players to choose from. |

yes, because 3 is the magic number. a win plus an OT/SO loss gives them 3 regardless of what florida does.
a regulation loss gives them a max of 2 on their own. |

Yeah, I’m pretty much there too. I don’t really think Lyon is any better, but the team just seems to bear down and play a little better in front of him.
Either way, if Elliott is ready, you gotta put him in. - BiggE

I’d be happy just to see Elliott return and the team at least play well and be competitive in round one. With the existing holes on this roster, you cannot expect any more than that. - BiggE
but then there would be no more hot potato |

Well guys, I'm out!
I guess today is the one day where facts don't matter - SuperSchennBros
Fact: Flyers entered the season a bubble team at best. In fact I can’t remember any preseason hockey publications or websites that picked them to make the playoffs
Fact: The Flyers lost both of their regular goalies to injury heading into the stretch drive
Fact: The Flyers are relying on a 19 year old rookie to anchor the 2nd line and trying to get by without a legit 3C
Fact: Radko Gudas, expected to be a solid top 4 Dman on this team, has woefully underperformed
Fact: If the season ended today, the Flyers would be in the playoffs and they’ve already exceeded last years point total by 6 points.

No other expansion team had access to players like Vegas did.
Full kudos for what they've done, but your comparisons are not apples-to-apples. |

Brian Elliott says they’ve been doing their best to replicate game situations in practice for him so he can get a good idea of how ready he is to return. - ajw12
So they're doing line rushes on him with traffic cones placed at the blue line as defenders? |

yes, because 3 is the magic number. a win plus an OT/SO loss gives them 3 regardless of what florida does. - hammarby31
So basically they can't lose in regulation. Playing two awful teams at home to close out the season you figure they would find a way. They will need the 3 points. They aren't getting any help. |

add in the salary Cap had a huge affect on a lot of contenders, a cap that helped Vegas and hurt others |

However, if Florida loses to Boston, a team that is trying to secure home-ice advantage for the conference, then the Flyers do not have to get more than 1 point. |

correct. in order to eliminate florida's results.
florida still has a tough road, needing to win all 3, playing boston twice, and needing the flyers to lose at least once in regulation.
flyers have the advantage. at home. against 2 non playoff teams, with their own playoffs on the line. it will be nothing less than abject failure and collapse considering they were 13 points clear of the last non playoff team at the deadline. |
