I wish I could be Hextall for one day and we would have Phillip Grubauer in net as the starting goalie next year. I said this last year, Grubauer or Raanta and Raanta is likely resigned in the desert as he has been offered a four year 20 mill offer despite being a ufa. I think he takes it. If I was Hextall for one day, 1st I’d slap Dale Weise for being a heartless piece of crap. Then I’d slap Weise’s mom for having him and follow that with a two hander on Weise’s dad for knocking her up in the first place. Finally I’d slap myself for signing that tool to a 4 year deal.

Oh, and I’d can Lappy too.

First off you have to take the gems before they become gems, like Raanta was a prize only the Coyotes were able to see. Last year Grubauer, Raanta and Korpisalo were my targets and we got Elliot. Anyway with Samsonov arriving and Holtby signed long term Grubauer could have been had earlier despite being an rfa. He has clearly outplayed Holtby and every other goalie except one in the last 25 games meaning he is going to be tough to acquire. A smart GM would have tried to pluck Grubauer in the off season. Now depending on what happens this spring, it is possible Grubauer stays and Holtby is traded, we do know yet. To answer your question I would have negotiated hard to acquire Grubauer and if the price was right he would be a Flyer. I have 40 years of experience being an nhl gm in fantasy (laugh if you want, I do not care) I selected with the first pick in 1980 Denis Savard and the Habs took Wickehheiser, my keeper is no money but in money I won 18 grand in a five year period in money pools, not trying to brag but hey man I know my hockey and I know the Flyers need a goalie. Mrazek was a desperation move by Hextall and he is average but you need a guy who steals games and the potential to be great and that would be Grubauer, watch him sometime.

I would trade manning and gudas for nothing to the pens at some point whether in the nhl or AHL, the pens kids would start picking up bad habits from the wonder twins. It should only take 1-2 years before the twins destroyed all the pens young players. If I had to add a 1st round pick to make the deal I would.
