I am bored too so I come here to stir poop and play with some of the people who are followers and not leaders. Too many jump on a band wagon here! MJL for example has been a thorn in the side ever since I joined, you could say the same about me but there is a difference. The other guy is a Hextall puppet and it now appears he is in the auto business, lol I offer anyone on HB to inbox me and have an honest hockey talk on any subject. I promise to be at my best behaviour and respectful of any question. I hate being gang banged on here and only come back once in awhile to make sure you are all okay. - joegreif17

How is asking somebody who claims to have knowledge of every player and every prospect who claims he would acquire Grubauer in a day if he was the GM, how he would actually go about that, not an honest discussion.

You said you know every player and every prospect and you've been a fantasy GM for 40 years. Pretty weak so far. - MJL
You know you are a loser, I offered to call you on my dime 10 years ago to have a respectful discussion on Flyers hockey but you declined because you said your mother does not allow you to talk to strangers. I will make that same offer again if you are willing to talk and maybe clear the air. I doubt you accept but the offer is there. |

It would start off with something like Hey Brian, how you doing my friend? I am calling about the availability of P. Grubauer. I see you got Samsonov arriving this fall and Holtby signed long term. Is there anything I have that would interest you? Who knows where it goes from here?? Or I would call up my buddy Brad in Calgary and say Hey Brad, you owe me a favor How about going after Grubauer for me and in return what will it take off my roster?? Then we facilitate a three way deal because Washington may be hesitant to trade to the same conference, especially knowing Grubauer could come back to haunt him. Does this help you with the question? |

Very happy overall with Hakstol's performance this year. - MJL
agreed, he is still dealing with a line up that has a lot of holes, one that depends on its stars to light it up and its rooks to step up. Next year should be better and we'll get a good look at Hak and what he can do with bigger expectations.
to wrap up the earlier talk as it relates to Hak playing the 4th line after the Flyers tied the game. Hak did and does have limited options. From my couch it was easy to say slow this down but in the moment Hak had to choose between Flip and Lethera, that goes back to "dealing with holes". Yeah, Hak could have called a TO or mixed up a line but after you score, you think you got the MO, not that your best D will make a game losing pinch. By way, maybe it was the fourth line but Hak had his best D on the ice. again, from my couch, should have slowed it down. I cant blame Hak on this one, where I do put some blame on Hak is not having Laughton in the lineup (unless he physically needed a break). Laughton's speed would be a better match, Lethera and Flip are slow. Yeah I get it, Hak still probably would have went with Lethera but you and I talk about role players. Hak uses Flip and Lethera as role players, I think he should have been giving Laughton a little more based upon match ups. |

John Carlson is a free agent after the year. Going to cost booku bucks. BUT, with all the youth on this team, would he be someone this team should look into? Could definitely solidify the backend and maybe play with one of the kids coming up next year like Morin. Keeping Mac and Sanheim together as well as Provy and Ghost. - Flyers1218
Not only is this a bad idea, but your additional benefit of keeping Sanheim with MacDonald is terrifying |

Okay, so you'd start with a phone call. Got it. Then what, what would you offer Washington?

Yup, and the Flyers also could have drafted Patrik Berglund (higher on many teams' lists, and the next player down on Philly's) instead of Claude Giroux. And the Avalanche could have drafted Simon Gagne instead of bypassing him three times in the first round (including for Martin Skoula and Scott Parker). And every team in the NHL could have drafted Jamie Benn before the 129th pick in 2007.
Shall we discuss every player that every team ever looked bad missing out on it a hindsight drafting? - bmeltzer

Personally I think we have our offensive dman in Gost but we need to add a couple of solid 4-5-6 dmen. Carlson is like having two #53's even though I still like Gost better, much more mobile. Carlson has inflated stats playing on the pp with Backstrom, Ovechkin, Kuznetsov etc The Gost to me is as good as EK offensively, not as good on defence but a work in progress. |

As a I said previously, if Laughton was a coaches decision, I don't agree with that decision. We've had conversations about this previously, I believe Lehtera belongs on the wing now, not at center.
It was pretty clear what he was trying to do there after they scored the tying goal. At least to me it was.

Gostisbehere's stats aren't inflated playing on the pp with Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, etc?
