if it does ring and he does pick up, he will not talk, he doesn't want to accidentally make an offer

Have to be real careful. If you're the GM making the call, make small talk, ask how the family is, hopefully at some point the opposite GM will mention the player you want to trade for and you can casually say, I might have interest, for the right price but don't sound too interested. Be coy!

I can't backread 30 pages. Someone provide cliff notes for me and tell me which side of the argument I would take had I been here all day

The first thing the Caps would want is a first round pick and that is not happening. Nobody want the half dozen culls we have, C. Hart could be a good one and will not move him. I even like Lyon and think he has potential. The caps will lose Grubauer after next season to free agency if they do not trade him. So I think highly enough of Grubauer for two years now that I would offer a second round pick for him. I would be Grubauer would steal from Elliot, Neuvirth, Mrazak or Lyon if given the opportunity.

and that's all fair and good. i dont even think your evaluation is off at all. i was just curious as to how it ever actually landed on a second. call them up and offer a third, they say first, both agree on the second or whatever have you. i think people were just confused because for the longest time it appeared you were withholding the beginning step of this equation.

I think we spent an inappropriate amount of time talking about the Grubauer fantasy trade

hey im the last one to rain on the parade of fantasy sports. a favorite hobby for sure.

i just get annoyed when people think its so simple as saying oh never make the first offer. i'm only a meager plaintiff's attorney, but settling anything obviously requires one party to make the first move. ninety percent of the time, you can posture all you want but at the end of the day the onus is going to be on the one who's bringing the parties to the table in the first place.

You can make fun if you like but you are talking to a rare bird, someone who can look at your credit card and remember the numbers for life, someone who can remember whatever he wants to remember relating to numbers. I spend several hours daily on pro hockey. I will be 92 in July and the fact I played senior hockey into my 80's certainly means nothing but at least you know the facts.

Grubauer is a RFA after this season. The Caps could re-sign him to a multi year deal this off season.

You won't get Grubauer for a 2nd round pick.

And all this took 30 pages? I knew all of this when I woke up this morning..... oh, except for catching up on TV. Thank you for the public service on the correct spellings. You may want to add that it's Hagg and not Haag.

I’m surprised it only took 30 pages.

The Phillies coach in MLB The Show looks nothing like Gabe Kapler. Perhaps this isn't a bad thing.

i dont know, the goalie market is volatile and often underwhelming for the seller. i dont think its too far off.

i was more just confused as to how we landed on that part of the conclusion map, as i'm sure you were

he had some inconsistent stretches, but the good certainly outweighed the bad. its a shame whatever happened to him now, but he did well by the flyers and should be remembered fondly.

if he plays well in the playoffs it will Holtby on the block. You can make a case that will happen either way. Holtby makes 6.1, caps are against the cap (no pun) and whether the caps do well in the playoffs or not, they will probably go in a different direction.

I have some questions. What are the yearly dues for your cult? Do you have to go to meetings? Any free gifts involved?
