Was certainly tough at the beginning of the year watching him float, I just have to call it what it is, BUT he's a three year 20 goal scorer that's young. Seems that he has embraced his role as a winger as opposed to center. I think he could be a top line or second line winger.

If you see Toronto's Nylanders first goal, you see the "speed" Reinhart has coming back. I am not impressed with him at all...remember this is a contract year for him.

I DID notice that, he floated back on the back check, he could have tied up his stick. But it's hard to over look that he continually scores more than 20, this year on the back half of the season. Potential is there for 30 I think.

That's pretty tough to just walk away from, and to say his effort ticked me off earlier was an understatement.

$4MM for 3 years would be fine to me. Ive been a major Reinhart hater since day one. Hes worth more to us at this point then he would be in a trade.

I said 3 months ago he would be out of the NHL in 5 years.

That seems silly now, he looks like a decent top 6 winger.

I just wouldn’t consider him a “top” young player until he does it for a full season

Nylander and Casey going to light it up

Eat that Crow people

- gerbe75pts

I think it will be good for Nylander to see how Casey is handling being in the NHL. But as for them lighting it up, they can do that all they want during the last two games. We need to lose tonight, we don't need to be picking 5th.

With the Sedin's retiring, Buffalo and Toronto should trade the Nylander's to Vancouver. They can have two brothers who played in Sweden for the next fifteen years. Would an A. Nylander's for Juolevi be a fair trade for each team?

I was defending him at the beginning of the season, had an epic argument with Boss about "Silent Sam" (*L), got so angry at his level of effort I was ready for the team to move on.

But, he's caught up nicely, he has some warts (all do) but the potential seem to be there for 30 goals. Now, don't pay him like that as he hasn't done it, but the Sabres have to pony up enough for a kid that has scored 20 goals for the first three years of his career. Edit: Just noticed that he put up 17 last year, but he's near 50 points each season.

I wonder how Nylander feels about being passed by Mitts in terms of fan adulation and on the depth charts? Mitts is a Sabre for sure next year. Nylander is likely heading back to the Amerks again, unless he has a great playoff and training camp.

Who cares? I'm not worried about managing the expectations of a young player that was just drafted (See Grigorenko, Mikhail and Zadorov, Nikita). Hopefully that feeling motivates him to have a great summer and training camp and earn a spot on this roster.

Or....enjoy Rochester.

I'm hoping it's motivation. To see Mitts doing well, to see his brother in Toronto doing well, he's got to be felling the pressure. It's time for him to step up his game. Nylander can be just as creative as Mitts, but Mitts isn't afraid to be physical and get into the dirty areas.

One of his main issues has been compete and battling. According to those who pay attention to the Amerks, these areas have been approved upon. Housley this morning discussed his rapid improvement over the past month or so. The offense comes with the consistent effort and drive. I have little doubt that this summer is gonna really pay off for him. And it will give him plenty of time to really heal that groin injury, which is can be a serious issue for athletes.

I REALLY hope you're right. If Buffalo gets two players that can play in top 6 roles that will help GREATLY. So top 6 would be Jack, Sam, Casey, Alex, and ROR so that's five right there that would be an improvement of what we have now and push guys playing higher to their appropriate spots down the roster, then get rid of the ones on the roster that shouldn't be here.

Realistically Zads/Svech will probably be there as well, and that's should be a pretty dominate top 6. With everything left over the bottom 6 should be very good as well.

If we can figure out how to maintain an average NHL defense, we should be set to make a major improvement in the standings.

What exactly has Mittelstadt done in his few games called up, to be given a "for sure" spot in the lineup next year. He will have to earn it just as much as Nylander has to.

I think if they resign Casey Nelson, Baker is saying that he actually really likes Buffalo because they really invested in him, and he and Guhle continue to develop that will help the D, hopefully the bottom pairing. Bogo, I'm just counting any game he plays as a bonus next year. We called guys like that in the Army Pvt. BrokeRichard. Getting rid of Gorges, Beaulieu, will be gone. I would love for them to give Antipin another shot but I don't see that happening.

I think it's speculation at this point that he will earn it. If he doesn't, he goes to Rochester. Based on what we've been told and some things we've seen in a ridiculously small sample size, we think he does earn that spot.

It's still early, he only has a few points so far, but his creativity is there. He was already making plays in his first NHL game that nobody on this team can/does outside of Eichel. He's showing drive, speed, and making plays that a top 6 player with only 3 games under his belt normally doesn't/can't do. He'll be on the team next season.

Agreed. Nelson needs to be resigned. Guhle won't be bottom pair, though, he's easily middle pair now and might even be a #2 guy by the end of next season, at least, on our team. Antipin, was horribly mismanaged. He isn't bad, and has a lot of upside. He would be a great bottom pair option, but he'll be leaving buffalo after they way he's been handled and now what's happened to him.
