That may have been my original hypothesis that i was trying to test. But i think it sheds a favorable light on some other players as well. My disdain for Girgensons' play is well-known, but he comes out looking pretty good.

We all know the sabres need to score more

What this particular way of looking at it tells is - in my opinion - is that the huge money tied up in the lowest-producing players is a large reason that we suck.

Like i said, in no way is this a perfect system. Just one way to look at it. Not many teams can be successful with that percentage of the cap essentially being dead.

Basically. And other than Eichel and Reinhart on the end of their deals, Erod was the only player to overproduce. So the recipe of (tons of dead money + no value contracts to offset them = terrible season) isn't all that surprising. Like someone else said, D scoring is different. But our D scoring is ATROCIOUS in general. That has to get way better

Guys who are paid similarly or even less like Scheifele and Couture are putting up those numbers or better in hundreds of less minutes.

I think JT is more realistic then Karlsson. But i think our odds of landing JT are less then our odds of landing Dahlin.
