I think Pach mentioned some off ice issues with reinhart one time, but i dont think anyone has added any more to the discussion other than the fact that something was going on. - Shadman306

So sick of listening to people on here hope and pray for a loss.. - feetontheair22
It wasn't about hoping for a loss, it's what the loss meant. It meant either mcdavid or eichel.
Now it means a better than 50% chance of not picking top 3. |

I just can't wait until we finish last and 30th wins the lottery, you mother(frank)ers will never hear the end of it. Tanking for last at every cost in the current system is pointless. - Wetbandit1
What if the difference in a player from 4th to 5th becomes night and day down the road ? You'll be singing a different tune at that point. |

I meant this season. I was 100% for it when we had the chance to get Eichel or McAutomaticHart |

And now that there's a player or three that likely will be better than Eichel you're now against it ?

it's not worth it anymore. The drop is too many spots and the odds of it happening are better than half. - Sabresfan-365
The difference between 4 and 6 or 7 is so minimal in almost every year it's so not worth it to lose at all costs. |

No I won't because you can't know that until then. You can say "why didn't we win more last year and finish in New Jersey's spot?" But no one's saying that, because it's absurd. |

Even if that were true (it's not by the way but what do i know), you're still looking at better odds of missing out on all 3 that picking top 3 if you finish last.

Ya...none of them are going to be better than Eichel.

How can you not hope for a loss at this point.
The season is over, the games are meaningless.
The trajectory the team will take will most likely be very very different if we pick 1-4 or 5.
Why would we not want to have the best chance at 1, and worst case we pick 4.
The party is over, why not just say screw it and steal some beers on the way out |

it's hard to compare positions but I could see Dahlin being more valuable than Eichel.
And Svechnikov might end up scoring more goals over his career. |

as wet bandit has pointed out, the difference between the option at 4 than 6 or 7 is basically a wash. |

Eh, save that for 3 years from now. We have no clue.
Remember when the Jackets were nuts to take Dubois? He’s been fantastic this year |

If we get Dahlin this season was a homerun. If we get one of the wingers it was still worth it. |

yeah that's kinda my point though. Puljujarvi was the consensus 3 and everyone thought CBJ was nuts to take dubois "The gap is that big" they said. Could very well be the same with Zadina and Tkachuk or between tkachuk and say Whalstrom at 5. |

I'm sure in some years there will be some variance, and you might miss out on a guy, but that's life, you can't guarantee anything, but in the long term, assuming they don't (frank) with the odds like crazy again it's just not worth it to sell off, or not try and win. |

just let the chips fall where they may fall. If a lottery result is integral to your long term plan, you're a crappy GM. |

Sorry, my point was muddled, what I meant was the teams might have these kids ranked differently. Sabres could have a guy ranked well ahead at 4-5-6 etc.
Like CM last year. Botts was ready to move up for him because he had him top 3-5 |

Yeah he tried flipping with Vancouver. But in that scenario you may end up getting a chance at pettersson, who's every bit as good as CM imo.
I agree they have them ranked differently, but I don't think the gap between them is that big, at least not this year. |

Once you get past the top tier it's pretty much a crap shoot/need based. Like the Ryan Murray year, which was Yak and then the field, when all those D-Men went way early.
Some are really good, others are Griffin Reinhart. |
