Yep.
We already --sort of-- got our lottery result, now comes the building. - Wetbandit1
It's easy to sit there, pout and say "woe is me we got screwed by a lottery designed to screw everyone" but I dont see any of the "lottery losses" (i lol every time i hear/see that) as the reason things went south.
It was literally everything else. I'd like to believe Botts is smart enough to realize that as well. |

Once you get past the top tier it's pretty much a crap shoot/need based. Like the Ryan Murray year, which was Yak and then the field, when all those D-Men went way early.
Some are really good, others are Griffin Reinhart. - Wetbandit1
And then 6 and 8 are Lindholm and Trouba. |

The draft is maybe the only scenario I don’t think it’s fair to play the %’s game.
Mainly because every draft is different, there are trades, and teams don’t have players ranked the same way mock drafts do.
If guys were picked in the official order they are “ranked” with no variance, I’d agree |

I know, I'm using past drafts, there are always picks after the first tier that surprise. There's just too much uncertainty, even at the top, and not enough of a chance at the top on top of it to justify continually setting your program back, or at least not allowing it to grow.
Otherwise there's no way teams like Detroit and St Louis make the playoffs for 2 decades straight. There clearly is a way to build a good team without getting a top pick. |

I don’t disagree with the uncertainty, the point im trying to make is that the only way to truly ensure your GM gets the guy he and his scouts want is being closer or closest to #1.
The rest falls on them to be right. |

I REALLY hope you're right. If Buffalo gets two players that can play in top 6 roles that will help GREATLY. So top 6 would be Jack, Sam, Casey, Alex, and ROR so that's five right there that would be an improvement of what we have now and push guys playing higher to their appropriate spots down the roster, then get rid of the ones on the roster that shouldn't be here. - gcomella34
I really wish ppl would stop with this “top6” narrative
Obviously we are going the “ Top9” route like Pittsburgh...
otherwise Mittelstadt would be on the wing & not at Center |

Prepare to be disappointed. Top 6 is not going anywhere.

I DID notice that, he floated back on the back check, he could have tied up his stick. But it's hard to over look that he continually scores more than 20, this year on the back half of the season. Potential is there for 30 I think.
That's pretty tough to just walk away from, and to say his effort ticked me off earlier was an understatement. - gcomella34

there's high demand around the league for ROR if the Sabres are willing to listen.

Listen! He's the slow guy on what will be a very fast moving offense. He's talented, but if we find an out that works for us, explore it. |

I believe Nylander's problem was a torn groin muscle, so that would explain his early season woes. Besides the dude is 19 years old, Let's give him a little time to grow, not everybody matures at the same rate. I am amazed at the know it all trolls who just post idiotic statements to get noticed....Good job. - macman9
