I for one don't want any pricey signings but we so desperately need a quarterback to run the PP.

Why would any highend ufa wanna sign in Vancouver? Maybe after some kids like Pettersson and a few others have played a year and they have success. Horvat and Boeser aren't a big enough draw imo.

I wonder if that weird 3-way trade with Ottawa-Vegas-Pitt created the idea for this tactic. They wouldnt want to sign and trade with salary retained on really long term deals, but if Tavares wants to pull a Hossa and chase a cup, VAN has the cap room to deliver a top player with retained cap space to a contender for a high price. Bringing in a high priced UFA for 3 years while being near the bottom seems in VAN like a waste for everyone involved

(For the record, I dont actually think this is a likely scenario, especially with this management group)
