It is a fool's errand, but yes.
I look forward to learning which player will be villified next year. In November, Eichel came close to getting it, so my money is on him.
He doesnt make Girgensons and Pominville top-6 players, he's a bum!
Yeah, what he said, Eichel is a bum. - jcragcrumple
Eichel deserved the focus earlier in the year, both h3 and Reinhart (much more so) under produced.
Jack turned his game on in mid December if I recall properly.
For next season, earning $10M per year, you bet the expectations increase significantly, as they damn well should.
Personally, I expect a minimum of 90 pts AND playing a solid 2 way game now.
He should be able to do it as his game did pick up dramatically in the 2nd half of this season...just roll it over baby. |

so Nylander gets a pass for an injury.... but reinhart gets nothign for playing out of the correct position and crappy linemates? - IndianaSabresFan
Yes nylander gets a pass for a major injury lol
Are we really going to play this game with Sam ? So his excuse for being poopty AHL player was playing at a position that he was drafted in?

We drafted him because he was a center if I knew he was going to be a wing and if the organization knew zero chance we would have drafted him
He's slow and this game is moving at a faster rate the goal here is to get faster and you can see the Sabres moving into that direction - gerbe75pts

With a proper roster build, I think Girgensons can have a role on this team. You put him with talent, I bet he can thrive (30 points). Needs to fit into the team plans and all that jazz, but you need energy guys with low salaries with offensive ability. - TheSabresTaco
The last time he had 30 points, he played 1st line center and 1st PP.
He played on Eichel's wing for huge stretches this year and never took off.
He's averaging like 13 points a year. A good year would be like 20 points. I hope they waive him or try to get a 7th for him. We have to do better than him |

You put a better team around him, a defense that can move the puck, he'll get that easily. He has the ability but he can't carry this team. Not even McSavior can carry an entire, poopty team into the playoffs. |

If the league operated that way, every team but the blackhawks, penguins and kings should have been trading players left and right for the last nine years.
You just end up chasing your tail on a never-ending rebuild. Edm just tried this by getting rid of Eberle and Hall. - jcragcrumple
I don’t think that’s quite the case. There’s a difference between say St. Louis who could use 2-3 NHl’ers To put them in the conversation, and the Sabres who are 31st.
We have a long way to climb. He’s a deteriorating asset.
Why not cash in now, and get something who could be a part of this organization for 10 years |

1LW is pretty gross too. I would never wish injuries on a player, but that's the only thing preventing it from happening this weekend.
Housley would have played him there on fan appreciation night

We just finished 31st how do you see this happening I’m serious - gerbe75pts
Maybe I'm being a bit hopeful with 88 points, but surely 85 points is achievable.
When you go to nhl.com and check out the bubble for most of the year teams like Carolina or Calgary at 82 points with 2 games to play.
They are a -29 or -36.
Sabres can make up 50 goals from -78 goal differential.
Healthy jack should have 8-10 more goals without girls on his line.
Sam plays 82 games instead of half a season -6-8 more
Mitts gets 20 goals more then Larson
Guhle and the whole defense scored 12 more
Erod 5 more goals
Ror same hes consistent
Okposo 5-7more
Nylander/ cj/ bailey/ baptiste- 10 more goals then - nolan, Wilson, pilot, girgs
1st round pick this year , if it's a top 3 winger - 10 more goals.
That's easily 50-75 more goals, with a lot fewer e.pty netters

Not saying he's not replaceable. He definitely is. Just saying, if this team is built correctly with 3 able lines (4?!) he may be useful. I don't know what the org thinks of him, but last he's popped up, Housley had good things to say about him. He should never be on the 1st line without significant injury to better players. Just saying. Could he find a useful role somewhere in this lineup? Sure. |

This is great to hear, it's too early to give up him. But, it's ridiculous that guy's like Girgensons and Larsson aren't actively being shopped. Even if there are presently no buyers, they should still be on the store shelf.
Nylander 19 years old, 5 NHL games, ship him out. Girgensons, 24 years old, 300 NHL games, 12pts per year average, flops around like a fish, but let's keep him for the long haul. - sskkoo1
Can we all just stop with this,
I have seen it multiple times...
He is 20 years old and 1 month.
At his age, his brother was in the NHL, and scored more that Alex is in the AHL.
There is concern, let’s not look past it.
Can he turn it around...absolutely, but it fuse is burning. |

I have a need for speed. And girgensons only has falling down rotational speed. Housley loves him and he was voted "unsung hero," so he's not going anywhere, much to my chagrin |

To be honest, I'm pro Nylander. I'm one of the last people to want to give up on him. He has supreme talent that he has yet to fully utilize.
I just don't like the Reinhart hypocrisy. |

half year - TheSabresTaco
Bots said he finally started getting his game back 2 months ago .
I remember everyone talking about how nylander was training so hard in the summer to make the team getting bigger and stronger and then he got injured
So all that work he did building up his body is back to the way he was last year because he lost it
so now he has to work out in the summer and get his body back in shape |

Obviously Sam had a mental injury, major mental injury. He recovered from it and has produced as nearly well as Eichel has.
I would still trade him, because he is too slow for this game...I don’t want him on Jack’s line, and Him with ROR make for a very, very slow line.
Trade Sam this year.
Hold onto ROR to allow Mitts to develop in his 1st season...then trade him next offseason. |
