Haha I should have clarified, I think that there is still a sizable gap that still exists between the leagues.
Relegation/Promotion shows the overlap of the top bottom feeders and next division's top teams, it took 7 games for Timra to beat a team that basically went 15-31-6 (in NHL record format). The difference I see is that very good players exist in the lower leagues in Europe, while in North America everyone typically gets filtered up |

How do you think the Comets would do against the Sabers? The Sabers would destroy the Comets. I think the gap is somewhere between the gap of the AHL and NHL. From all accounts, Dahlen was the best player on the ice playing against a SHL team. I have no doubt he would have been a stud in the SHL as well.
Too much talk of gaps |

thats where I was going with my original response, I think it was more impressive that Dahlen led Timra to the SHL given the general talent disparity between the leagues |

I was misty eyed through the third period. The When Danny scored in OT I started full on bawling my eyes out.
Watched every game those guys played since the day they entered this league.
Last night was very bittersweet.
First balloters? Not sure. But HHOF's for sure. - vancity787
There were definitely some tears along with the jubilance when all was said and done - a very emotional night for all. Couldn't have scripted things better than how everything played out. And end of an era with so many amazing memories of Sedinery magic, we were all so very fortunate to have been able to witness two of the greatest athletes to ever play the game for almost 18 years. Athletes that were not only outstanding on the ice but also who were some of the best people off the ice as well. 100% class. Best of luck Hank and Danny and enjoy your well deserved retirement. There will never be another like you two ever again. You will be greatly missed!!! |

Outstanding. I won't be surprised if he makes the Canucks next season. Kid is legit and I think many on here think the gap between the SHL and Allsvenskan is greater than it is. - CanuckDon
jesus who isnt going to make the team next year? so many stud and legit players coming in |

Pettersson - Dahlen - Juolevie and Gaudette in Plus one veteran UFA
Lind - Gadj in Utica
Dowd, Jokinen, Sedin's, Hutton and Loui gone. That's my guess. |

You're dreaming about Loui. He is the hockey contract equivalent to herpes. He will never go away.
I strongly think they will re-sign Vanek.

My emotions are still running high. I have no words. We all knew it was the end but now that it’s here we don’t want it to. Never will we see the like again. You’re right they will be greatly missed. |

No I am not. His NMC is now a NTC and his base salary is down to $1MM - $1MM - $1MM - $2MM the next 4 years while his cap is $6MM. A team like AZ or OTT could be interested (already rumours that MTL may be). He is moveable now.
How about this:
Bobby Ryan plus a 2nd and a B D prosect for Loui.
Ryan also has 4 years left at at a cap hit of $7.25MM while his base salary is $5.2MM.
I am sure their cheap owner is desperate to unload his salary.
Canucks could buyout Ryan after two years of "glue mentorship." |

Well, I guess we have seen weirder stuff happen. I would celebrate if they could move him.
But he offers so little. Zero intensity. It's like he allergic to the corners.
Plus --- no way they throw in a 2nd. Not even a third. |

Disagree, I think they would trade a 2nd to rid themselves of that contract. It's brutal. I do agree that Loui should go. He is a joke. |

Bobby Ryan isn't the Bobby Ryan he was once was, when he was in his prime with Anaheim. I absolutely agree that OTT would throw in picks to save money (paid player salary). |

Canucks are in no position to move draft picks. That's the only thing worse than keeping Loui.

I dont for a minute think we are stuck with LE. The team sucks not the player. LE is a very good player on quality team still. Like he was when he arrived. He's a special teams player... both ends of the ice. If the rest of the team sucks or is injured, he's more or less moot and losing interest.
