Desjardains (sp)? may have been close for a few seasons at his peak, but the closest may have been Pronger in that 09-10 season. - Sublime55
Pronger had 10 goals that season. Mike Green led the league with 19.

Pronger only had 10 in the regular season that year.
Rico had a three year stretch of 15, 14 & 15. - hereticpride
I’m surprised by that... I thought he would have had more. Matt Carle put up a bunch points playing beside him though and we can’t forget about Kimmo either, but 24 by Howe surely has to be the record. Shame of it is that he was playing at the same time Coffey and Bourque were in their primes. His 24 in 85-86 were distant to Coffey’s ludicrous 48 goals that year. |

I just feel like they're wasting the year. Their top 6 and top pair are as good as any in hockey (when Konecny is there). It's such a waste to see them continually throw out subpar depth players. Why not take a shot with some younger guys? They're setting a ceiling with players like Filpulla, MacDonald, Manning and Lehtera and that ceiling isn't the Finals - PhillySportsGuy
You just don't take a shot with young players if you don't feel like they're ready for it. It's been the same ridiculous complaint all season. You don't want to recognize that you can hurt young players and set them back in their development by rushing them. The Flyers are in the process, and it is a process of developing players. When more young players are ready to make the move, older role players will be phased out. The Flyers wouldn't be where they're at right now without those role players.

MacDonald although not ideal is playing where he should play. Sweet baby jesus do I not want to see more of Manning or Gudas. Matter of fact, one of them should be sitting for Hagg, even though I'm not a Hagg guy myself. Certainly he's better than those 2.
Laughton needs to stay in. I wish he'd be our 3C, he's the best suited of the bunch. I also wish Weal would take the place of Lehtera. Speed is just so important in the playoffs especially. But as far as your forward ceiling players I agree. Patrick is 16+ minute player at this point. He and Filppula should switch their ice times. |

Wow, thanks for getting Coffey s stats. That Edmonton team during the dynasty was just a machine. Crazy offensive stats that will never be seen again.

So a blog is not made to celebrate and praise a team. This board's nature has been made negative by the majority of the posters on here. Not by it's inherent nature. - MJL
Your opinion on what the blog was made for. I don’t see all the posters as negative, most express their opinions on what they feel is best for the team needs to do to win. I’m pretty sure that would be part of the reason for the board. I don’t believe people when they say you just tow the company line and I don’t believe most posters are are negative

7-1-3 to finish out the year after this coach stepped in front of the reporters and put the Columbus loss on him for not having his team ready.
I’m not going to get into what was being said on these board but my antennas went up from that. It’s rare to see coaches in any sport step up and take responsibility for something like that during the stretch run of this year. It’s easy to say that his group of players are professionals and it’s up to them to be prepared, etc
We’ve got a coach who is not afraid to “sack up” and a group of talented players willing to play hard for him and each other, there’s a lot to like about that. There’s a lot to like about this coach too

In a 4th line role, Lehtera belongs in over Weal. The game becomes much harder in terms of checking and space is limited in the playoffs. Lehtera is strong along the wal and in puck battles. A lot of playoff hockey is played there. Unless Weal can play on a higher line, which I don't see a spot for him right now up there, he should remain in the press box. I agree on patrick and Fillpula. There should be a few minute swing there. I'd like to see Hagg back in also. The Flyers would not be in the playoffs this season if not for the veteran presence of Fillpula this season. He has declined further, no doubt but he deserves some credit. |

I don't really care what the board is made for. The overall tone of this board has been tilted way towards the negative side. That's just a fact. It's a shame because it was badly misguided. All season long.

How often have you given up on this team and it's captain the last couple years? Yet you cry wolf on a poster who has consistently defended it? Take your Martyr act elsewhere. - Baxter27
Agree, like his opinions or not MJL,never says a player is crap, or garbage or turds.
He might say he’d prefer a player which we all have opinions on whose better. But at the end of the day it’s a coaches decision for whatever reason. Have no respect for the posters calling down even our worst players with the negative poop. Looking back on the year it’s embarrassing all the scapegoating on a player like Manning. The posters that beak him are losers,He’ll probably be gone next year and someone will be scapegoated instead. Giroux, Voracek, Couts ,Simmer and Manning are the only Flyers left from the 2011-2012 season. Like him and his decisions or not Hakstol got us back to the playoffs. So instead of female doging about the players which select few losers do. Support the team and enjoy the ride. Yea I am one of the few who like Manning and will comment on giveaways but never call Gudas, Hagg , Amac or even Sanheim garbage. They all deserve respect !!! |

Got to hand it to you...you’ve been all over that stat since the Hak press conference. For all the legitimate criticisms of the coach, they finished strong. |
